MJ is undisputably basketball God, media always tend to compare Kobe with MJ. I ackowledge that Kobe is arguably the best player in the league, the one most close to MJ, despite I donot like him personally.

I am not old enough to witness MJ's live playoff performance. In my impression, MJ seemingly could not stop talking trash in big games. I remembered him chasing and slashing Miller in a furious playoff showdown.

But is MJ a mean person like Kobe, talking trash incessantly to his opposing defender, playing dirty and showing no class. Or MJ simply outplay his opponent by sheer power and predominance.

Do you guys have a say on this issue

MJ has been described by some as a jerk, they both share a similar arrogance, at least from what i've heard about both off court....however, on the court, i always saw MJ's attitude like that of a big brother or close friend. He talks trash, knows he's better, let's you know it over and over, but it's always more of a playful sort of thing, i mean he's dead serious, but it's not about putting you down, more about him saying he's good. Kobe's attitude seems more like a bully, as in he knows he's bigger and better, but he not only wants you to know he's better, but also that you're trash.

MJ is my favorite basketball player(no disrespect to Dream). I don't think Kobe is even close to him, but media says so. Kobe got his rings by virue of Shaq, MJ led Bulls to win double triple consecutive Champions, which is amazing, it seems that if he play, other teams have no chance to win.

Kobe has not proved anyting yet. He wants to be the next MJ, and he keeps trying to imitate MJ in every way, but whether he is up to the level of MJ in every way is discussable. That is why I bring up this topic.

Also, Mj's actions seemed very genuine, very in the moment, while Kobe's seems like an act, like he's practice it at home or something....AND they're very similar to Jordan's, but he adds even more cockyness to them....

i can't completely blame him though because i think he started out like many of us. Acting like we were Jordan in our backyards, our whoever our fave player was. We all picked up certain things...like i remember reading as a kid how MJ picked up the tongue thing from his dad, who use to always do it when he was working on something, concentrating hard, like working on the car...then i started doing the same as a kid unconsciously. The difference is I grew out of it, but if it would have been Kobe he probably would have not only kept doing it, but tried to perfect the tongue wagging and tried to be better at it. That's how crazy cocky/confident/driven Kobe is, he's copying MJ cus he's the best, and he tries to be him, but better, and it eventually just turns into too much arrogance.

MJ was ruthless on the court and a jerk off it. MJ would talk a lot of trash too. What MJ never did was spend an entire game telling everyone who would listen that someone couldn't guard. Another difference between MJ and Kobe is that MJ had huge respect for other competitors. Would he try to destroy Shane if he was in Kobe's position? Absolutely but not once would you see him running up the court, shaking his head back and forth and acting like an idiot.

Then again, MJ knew he as the best and his game showed it. Kobe is still trying to convince everyone else that he is. It looks to me that Kobe is trying to convince himself as well.

MJ never taunted his opponets because HE DIDNT NEED TOO. Kobe's actions last night where an example of someone who is desperate to reach heights he never will and he knows it. Shane busted his butt last night and showed no disrespect toward Kobe only to be taunted all night??? Kobe may lead his team to victory or whatever but I believe his ultimate goal is not the title but to surpass MJ which is sad because of all the players who would die for a RING!!

That's a good explanation too, but i think i've seen MJ shaking his head the same way, that's probably where Kobe got it from...but the difference would be MJ would either be smiling genuinely (having fun) or would be pissed off (trying to win a big game), but Kobe always has that same smug expression

Exactly. Kobe has an ego problem. Jordan had an addiction to competition. Jordan was like a man with too much power, he was insane with power! Kobe is like a man in love with himself, narcissistic and mad with envy (24 over 23 paleez).

    Godly Basketball players:
MJ, Magic, Bird, Russell, Hakeem, KJB, Wilt, Big O, Dr. J, Jerry West.

    Legendary Basketball players:
Charles Barkley, Karl and Moses Malone, John Stockton, Isaiah Thomas, David Robinson, Gerving, Baylor, Cousy, McHale, Wilkins, Worthy.

Kobe's trying to be considered godly but it's sad because
he truly has the talent and achievements. His horrible attitude, un-humbleness, cockyness and playing dirty will never get him there.

Kobe can not be compared to MJ.

MJ loves to compete. Phil Jackson said in his book that MJ's desire to win, to be on top is unbelievable. He wants to be the best of what he's doing.

I grew up watch MJ's games, that great man gave me so much memories of how great NBA was, and how good he was.

On the other hand, Kobe, to me he's playing for the fame. He's always trying to prove himself no matter what it takes.

I was reading the book by Phil Jackson. He mentioned that how he couldn't take Kobe anymore, how immature he was, how self-fish he was. That was when he's having a fight with Shaq. And Phil quit LA after that I believe.

I was kind of surprise that Phil would go back to LA after what he said.
Phil thinks nobody in the league today has the same heart and desire as MJ and the MJ era Bulls. Good times.

Yeah, MJ would be demonstrative every now and then but he wouldn't do it for an entire game and he wouldn't do it against someone like Shane who keeps his mouth shut and works. MJ never needed to make sure everyone knew he thought he was better than the guy guarding him.

What I see from Kobe is immaturity, insecurity and frustration. It's a shame to see this guy at 31 years old acting like a high school kid.
