Compact disc settlement: $12.60 each Compact disc buyers who applied for a share of a price-fixing settlement in a class-action lawsuit that accused major record companies and retailers of price-fixing will get about $12.60 apiece if a judge signs off on the deal. About 3.5 million people who bought CDs between 1995 and 2000 went online and filed by last week's deadline to share in the settlement, which could have been as much as $20 per person if fewer people had filed claims. A judge is expected to rule May2 on the plan to split $44 million allocated for individual claims among the plaintiffs and to donate 5.5 million CDs, worth nearly $76 million, to public institutions and not-for-profit organizations. Payments should be mailed out within weeks of the settlement's approval. ------
Ya, I signed up once and am happy because it was pretty easy. It sucks that people signed up multiple times though, without that stuff each person would have gotten something closer to $20.
AWESOME!!! I can't remember if it was you, rh, that started that original thread, but thanks! I'll use it for something illegal.
in addition to my I would just like to say, why don't they just lower the prices of CDs forever and ever?!! And we all live happily ever after.
