    How did you do it?

I'm only 25, but I feel like there are many things that realistically I'll never do...like dunk a basketball or learn Japanese. Maybe I'm just overreacting to my the idea of my own mortality, but...eh.

What are some of ya'll "dreams" (significant or not) that you've simply given up on as you've gotten older?

I'll answer this thread on Monday, I had a decent week and had lot of things go my way this week. I don't want to ruin my weekend by facing my denials and shortcomings. Not tonight man. :(

    I can't.

I'm close to accepting the fact that I will never write a novel... I need to think about it for another decade or two though.

Beat your child once a day. If you don't know why, he does.

    you guys...

    Al:
25 is still young enough to do a lot of things including learning Japanese. I'll agree with the dunking unless you're 6'3".

    Rim:
Writing a novel has no age limit. My boss did it at 58. She wrote a teen novel of all things, and almost got published. Had a major publisher look at it... and asked her to make changes to the novel... but she got lazy. She might still get to it.

    Percicles:
19 is still considered teenager :) You just need to go to Brazil or Thailand and flash some of that American dollar around.

At 20, there is really nothing that I can think of that I have already written off the list.

Figure out what things you want to accomplish the most and that really matter to you, and then concentrate on those things. Life is too short to do everything you want to accomplish, especially if you have many lofty goals, but there is no reason you can't accomplish the ones that are most important to you.

Basically, trim the fat and narrow your focus. It has worked well for me and I'm your age.

I'm starting to think I'll never go to law school.

    Qualifications are there.

    Motivation is not.

You spend your whole youth trying to get somewhere and then you look back and realize you missed living the best part of your life. The truth of middle age is, if you just make it to Loved, Comfortable, and Entertained you have succeeded in life.

My son is a freshman at an excellent university and taking a 6 hour course in Japanese (total immersion). He started learning Japanese the year before (as a high school senior) with Rosetta Stone's program, due to a long interest in manga and hearing me talk about spending a couple of weeks in the country many years ago. That, and seeing the flick Lost in Translation, which I watched him when he was about 13. So he's only been learning for less than two years and can already speak a great deal of basic Japanese, and read it as well. Writing it is quite a bit harder, from what he tells me. My point? At 25, it's not too late for you to learn that language, if you really want to. No at all.

God, to be 25 again! (that's my dream) :)

I'm married with two kids so the chance of a threesome has gone and went.
