    Look at this gem:
ummmm, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAhahahaaahahaaaaaa!! [snort] *giggle* muhahah hee HWHWHWHHWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAWWAaaaaaaa!!!!

The playoffs just didn't exist before 2005, I guess. You know, when A-Rod hit .331 in 103 ABs with 6 dingers and 16 RBI?

"anti-Mr. October" indeed. The Houston Comical needs to hold their writers accountable. You have guys that know something but are freaking sloppy, throwing opinions around and not checking facts. Some of us do that everyday on this BBS (and sound smarter). Can't I expect MORE from a freaking PROFESSIONAL JOURNALIST?

When a guy is being PAID by the ONE newspaper in the FOURTH LARGEST CITY in the USA, I want MORE from him than I can get from some idiot in the freaking break room at work or calling in to drone uninformed BS on some dumb radio talk show.

Dammit, Houston "Chronicle", show me something!!!

Justice doesn't want A-rod... just like he didn't think it was a good decision to get Kent... just like he'll whine if the team doesn't acquire anybody good this off-season.

I put zero stock in what the guy says... simply because he'll change his tune as soon as circumstances change. "Trade Kent, bring up Burke.... re-sign Kent, give him his option.... trade Roger, get some prospects... re-sign Roger, offer him the world... trade Lidge, he's done... keep Lidge, he's turned it around.... the Astros are finished, Drayton screwed them up again... woo, go Astros, credit to Drayton/Tim for sticking with the kids."

I agree that his rant sounded way too opininated, with zero facts. There are reasons why you might not want A-Rod... but none of them were adequately addressed by him. It was all based on his own "feeling" about the matter and was VERY bbs-ish.

Remember, this is the same paper employing John Lopez. The same John Lopez who earlier this month, in an article comparing Fran's tenure at ATM to Mackovic's at UT, said that Mac's undoing was his inability to recruit/compete against Barry Switzer at OU and Jackie Sherrill at ATM. Nevermind that both of those coaches had left their respective schools years before Mackovic was hired at UT.

even funnier, here's what he wrote back in july:
a day later, in a column, he wrote:
the problem is that he actually holds no opinions of his own; he'll talk to someone and buy into that person's perspective completely. so he probably talked to someone in dallas about arod and pulled a 180.

I doubt he even did that much... just saw that the popular thing to do right now is bash A-rod (based on the NY media), and went with it.

Actually that was an Ortiz "blog". But that just makes it even more sad. We all know Justice is a clown. Buck pointed out inexcusable factual stupidities in John Lopez's article, and this from Ortiz (and it's not alone as an example of Ortiz's writing). Does the Comical employ anyone who is not an embarassment to our city in terms of sports writing?

...forgot to add that for at least the third time, I added a comment to this "blog" containing the actual facts and asking a question akin to, "did you think before posting this drivel?"

For some reason my takes never make it to the little comment page. Go figure.

justice did say this in HSI blog this morning:
so in the span of about 10 weeks, arod went from someone justice could dangle over purpura's head as an unrealistic expectation to garbage someone would be a fool to take.

    one eight-oh.

The Chronicle, in the interests of its own reputation, should put an end to this blogging business. It is only another opportunity for poorly researched "writing" from professionals who should give us more than the average armchair quarterback. More flip-flopping, more sloppy editorializing. All-in-all, an absolute embarrassment to the great city of Houston.

What a steaming pile of crap is the sports section of our city's only newspaper.

McClain, Justice, Ortiz, Lopez all of them suck. Feigan, Davis, Fallas are are solid but I can't stand McClain and Justice. McClain thinks he is some movie star and Justice is just an ass.

What's really sad is how they shrink from any contrarian points of view. I can understand why they would exercise some editorial control over comments that are profane, incoherent, whatever...but to refuse to post comments that point out errors or offer differing points of view (even polite yet strongly worded ones) is just flat out pathetic.

My gosh... that was a performance that could only be matched by Tobias Funke, the world's only a-nal-ra-pist.

I wonder if it will somehow find its way to Justice's "blog" tommorow... he deserves to be called out for being paid to write that garbage.

I can only be consoled by the fact that I own a Fire Joe Morgan shirt.
