Will Ferrell. The guy is too funny. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fZWfDtNRvA4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fZWfDtNRvA4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
In today's market Ben Stiller over Seth Rogen seems like a stretch. I'm long Rogen and Carrell. I'd buy Will Ferrell still, too. Black, Stiller, Vaughn...neutral. Wilson, even pre-craziness, I was short. You, Me & Dupree? Horrible.
I agree with this, but I put Stiller on a level below Black and Vaughn. I don't know why, but I just don't think he's funny.
Each actor excels at different comedy, so it's hard to pick. Jack Black is best at physical comedy, Will Ferrell excels at the quirky/weird comedy, and Ben Stiller is probably the best at intellectual comedy. Ferrell is really the only one of those actors can carry a comedy by himself like Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler could back in their primes, though. Right now, I'd pick Steve Carrell. It will be interesting to see what he does after the Evan Almighty debacle... All time (out of those pictured), I'd go with Ben Stiller
Both of them have a lot of drama recently. I can't believe Carrey hasn't been nominated for an Oscar yet. Eternal Sunshine, The Majestic, Man on the Moon, and Truman Show were all excellent performances...
not when theyre still dishing out blockbusters. when it comes to comedy movies they still gross up there with the best. latest adam sandler movie: $117,713,520
all of these actors suck, they play the same damn person in every single movie try watching a chris farley comedy from a decade ago and youll actually remember what its like for a comedy actor to be funny, and not play the same part over and over and over again in each movie
That cracks me up. If there was ever a guy who played the same roles in movies, it was Farley. Oh, I agree. I just thought it was funny for someone to use the phrase "15 minutes of fame" on two guys who have been going pretty strong for well over a decade.
Top 3 in order: Stiller Ferrell Carrell Ferrell is at his best with over-the-top characters. Stiller is great at that too, was well as the more down-to-earth lead characters. I have to go w/ Stiller overall. I think it's too early to tell for Carrell, but I think he's got the same ability as Stiller (over-the-top in The Office, down-to-earth lead in 40 Year Old Virgin).
Ben Stiller? You gotta be ****ing kidding me. That guy is not funny, nothing about him is funny except the fact that he thinks he is. Will Ferrel takes it hands down. Although Vince Vaughan has his moments, I would not really think of him as comedic. Jack Black has really fallen off, and Steve Carrel hasn't been in much other than the office and 40 year old virgin to really compete with Will... but yeah you can't forget about Jim Carrey.
All of the guys Countingcrow mentioned are part of, to some extent, the "frat pack." That is why Jim Carrey isn't mentioned...
