If you are talking about Comcast- it sucks. In the one month or so since they have taken over, my internet has gone out twice. Both times it went out for more than 12 hours. The most recent time was about a week ago on Tuesday. When I called Comast, they told me the earliest they can send a tech was on Sunday. (WTF!) The only good thing about Comcast is that when you call in order to speak with a customer service rep, it takes about 1 minute at most to speak to a live person. Before with TW, it would take 2-4 minutes, and after selecting 10 different options on the phone.
I haven't had any major issues with Comcast yet, but my internet has been out more times (3) in the past month, than it ever did with Time Warner (2006 back to 2004) It's all good though, my digital phone is about to go back, getting rid of HBO, and probably returning one, maybe both cable boxes. Assuming I can get an HD Tivo anyway...
Comcast is dumb when it comes to disconnecting your service. go to your backyard peel the wire from the little signal blocker and stick it back in.. now thats comcastic
Comcast sucks ass!!! My internet is out again. This is the third time since the switch, and since they can't diagnose the problem they're sending a guy over to check everything out. Next friggin' Monday! I NEVER had problems with TW. I knew this switch was gonna be a cluster****.
Comcast had a big outage a few weeks ago. Turns out it was Time Warners fault. http://blogs.chron.com/techblog/archives/2007/06/bad_day_for_a_comcast_internet_outage.html On a positive note, the speeds have picked up for some. I did a speedtest at Speedtest.net and here are my results. Download 5535 kb/s Upload 355 kb/s I have no idea if the faster switch has been made for me yet. http://blogs.chron.com/techblog/archives/2007/07/zoom_comcast_kicks_in_at_casa_techblog.html July 17, 2007 Zoom! Comcast kicks in at Casa TechBlog Looks like Comcast threw the switch for my neighborhood today. I was able to make the e-mail switch, and the speeds for my home connection have been jacked up. At Speedtest.net, I'm consistently getting over 6,600 kilobits a second downloads. Surprisingly, upload speeds appear to be much faster -- I'm getting a consistent 1,700-plus Kbps. Speedtest directed me to a server in Stillwater, Okla. Testing at one in San Marcos show similar numbers. speakeasy At Speakeasy's test, I may have seen Comcast's PowerBoost -- which gives a speed bump when bandwidth's available -- kick in. There, I got over 9,500 Kbps, along with the higher upload speeds. Typically, Road Runner gave me 4,800 Kbps down and 370 Kbps up. File downloads were also much faster. I was able to grab the ISO file for the Ubuntu 7.04 Linux operating system at a sustained rate of 900 Kbps. It took less than 14 minutes for a 689 MB file. With Road Runner, such a big file usually maxed out at 580 KBps. However, my joy was short-lived. After doing the test Monday evening, my connection died. This has been happening on and off for the last few days, with my access going down for up to 30 minutes at a time. Comcast subscribers were warned this could occur, but that doesn't make it any more pleasant. In this case, access returned about 15 minutes later. The e-mail conversion was a piece of cake. I walked through a few Web pages, and other than having to change the name on my primary e-mail account (which I never use), it was hassle-free. I'll play with the speeds over the next few days and update this post, so check back. If Comcast can get the patient stabilized soon, and if PowerBoost is available on a regular basis, I could get used to this!
I know the actor that does the Spaceman's voice-over work. He has a great gig. Records at home on his computer and emails it in - or at least that what he did when it was TW.
Comcastic my a** My HD stopped working and they couldn't do anything to fix it over the phone (sending a signal, etc) They told me that they would send a technician over to my house on Saturday between 12-4 PM. At 4 PM, I called them to see if the guy was running late, and they said there was no record of an appointment. pwnd
i haven't had any problems yet. one thing i've noticed when downloading is that i'm always getting at least 600 kb/s on a file and averaging about 650. not too long ago i was topping out in the low 500's. i don't know if it's comcast or not but i like it.
Maybe cnincidence since the changeover, but I was without service for 2 days this week — first time EVER to go down. My b**** list: 1) 3 calls to tech support had me on hold around 10+ minutes each. 2) When you call support, they ask you for your phone # so they can look up your account. Then they ask again. Then they ask AGAIN when a rep comes on the line. 3) First 2 tech support people I had were clueless. 4) Got a tech guy to come out next day (good thing). He was scheduled to come between 8 and 11. Dude was a no show. After another 2 calls to customer service they send another guy out. 5) Found one rep that know her stuff. Her name was Mel. Fixed me up. She canceled the service call. Guy shows up later that day anyway like nothing had happened. My confidence in Comcast is not very robust.
I went all the way through their prompts last night to find out the service center wasn't open. Annoyed the crap out of me. Put that message up first.
