I read that the TW / Comcast switch has been complete. I heard the same thing on 740AM this morning. So is the paperwork complete and the actual service switch comes later or are the customers in Houston getting Comcast service now? I didnt notice anything. I am looking forward to using Comcast - they carry more networks than TW including ESPN2 HD.
Looks like it's a done deal. Link. Anyone know if Comcast offers more HD channels than TW? I'd gladly pay for that.
I know for a fact that they offer atleast 1 more HD channel --- ESPN2 HD. The news also said that they are more proactive than TW with adding new networks and upgrading the systems.. I want to know when the actual "technical/service" switch will be made. Nothing changed so far from a consumer stand point. I also wonder what will happen to TW Home Security because it doesnt look like Comcast offers that service.
But they are in the process of evaluating everything so we won't see any changes for a couple months... so no NFL network or ESPN2HD any time soon.
This is good news. Comcast does offer both ESPN2HD and NFL Network. We might have to wait a few months but ... THANK GOD. (And hopefully we get iNHD2 back. There's a MusicLab show they used to have that I can't get anymore. )
I really hope that AT&T gets their heads out of their arses and brings U-Verse to Houston. IPTV....the wave of the future.
Time Warner is now (behind closed doors) Comcast. Everything still operating under the TW name though. Aaaaand it's 12:30. I'll update this when I get home.
whats going to happen to roadrunner? many places around the country and in texas are getting speed upgrades... anything for houston? what speed does comcast offer?
I wish they'd upgrade the upload speeds. It looks like you can get 768kbps upload with DSL now. TWC Roadrunner is half that speed.
I'm curious what the total cost for DSL per month is, after fees, taxes etc? Last time I checked, I couldn't get it without paying for a regular telephone line too (I prefer VoIP instead), and it also required a one-year contract. Now I'm paying like $50/month after taxes and fees for RR because I'm not bundling them with Digital Cable or Digital Phone anymore. I'd want something of comparable speed.
My wife worked for Time Warner and as of Monday became a Comcast employee. They are still working as Time Warner and will continue to be Time Warner until the roll-out in a few months. Could be as late as May. As far as programming, all I know is that there will be NO NBA-TV, but will have NFL Network. I believe Comcast has fewer HD channels...but you never know what they will add. As a whole, Comcast is a larger company than Time Warner. But from what I have read, they are not very strong in customer service. I don't know anything about the security...but there will be the broadband and digital phone available. I get all for free so I don't care anyway. I suppose as a Time Warner customer..nothing will change as far as your equipment...there will just be a switch one day and the programming will be Comcast. Anyway...enjoy being Comcastic
This is kinda a related question, I guess...Can you increase your speed by getting a different cable modem? The little icon at the bottom of my screen at home says 10 MBPS, and my friend's computer says 100 MBPS, and we both have Roadrunner. Is it because he has digital cable and I still have analog?
Well that's absolutely craptastic! Also, FEWER HD channels? How is that possible? With TW I only get around 10 as it is, and I've got the HD plus package. Going DISH is looking better and better every day.
DISH (with all of the HBOs, Starz and Encore channels), High Speed DSL and Home Phone....all through AT&T. $120/month Before I left Time Warner, I was paying $95 a month for the same TV service I am now getting on DISH. Glad I made the switch.
