Comcast is offering the NFL Red Zone Channel on the sports tier. The Red Zone Channel claims to show live look-ins and live red zone plays (how is that possible if two games are in the red zone at the same time?). Anyone going to bite? I guess this is a bone for cable customers.
I have been a loyal DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket guy for a few years... usually watch the "8-games at once" channel - where they split the screen into 8 boxes to show 8 games simultaneously. About half-way through last season, I discovered the "Red Zone" channel on Sunday Ticket - and started watching that exclusively. I've been trying to find out if this "Red Zone Channel' is going to be a duplicate broadcast of the Sunday Ticket Red Zone channel - b/c if it is, I can save $400/year by not subscribing to Sunday Ticket and just watching the Red Zone channel on DirecTV's sports tier (if they're even offering it). By the way - the channel on Sunday Ticket is hosted by Andrew Sicilliano (used to be on Fox Sports with Tony Bruno) and he cuts live into games where a team is in the red zone and is basically an "NFL watching manager" who keeps you up to date on all games happening at the 12pm CST slot and 3pm CST slot. One rumor I heard is that the NFL Red Zone channel won't air for the late games - just the early ones - which would really suck - and cause me to go ahead and pay for Sunday Ticket.
You actually pay full price for Sunday Ticket? That's nuts. Call and ask for a discount. I do it every year without fail.
red zone is awesome. If there is no game i really want to watch the entire thing i just watch redzone with my notebook on my ffb page.
what channel number is it in houston? is there an extra cost on top of already paying for the sports tier package that includes getting nfl network?
I was scrolling through the guide on my UVERSE this morning and saw we have Red Zone now. Channel 1629 in HD. NFL Network is 1630. The splash screen says programing is only available Sundays starting at noon CST.
It says you have to have the HD Premium Tier. I think that is $5 a month. It includes Paladium, MGM, and Smithsonian HD. I don't think I signed up for that extra HD premium package, they are coming over to install my U-Verse on thursday... For you guys that have it let me know if its worth it after week 1.
I got it. Glad I called. My plan was the "400", and it doesn't exist any more. The "450" is the same price and comes with faster internet. Upgrade!
It's a good channel. Network coverage, no commercials, best plays. Only live for noon to 6 (end of 2nd games) on Sundays though.
I've got it on the Uverse 200 package. I called about a month ago and got them down to $39.99 for 6 months, then $54.99 after that ... previously I was paying $64 for the 100 package that didn't even have NFL network or a DVR. So if you're not getting these, I'd give them a call.
