Merger approved, Olbermann a few days later. http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/21/olbermann-hosts-last-countdown-on-msnbc/?hp

I don't care for his style, but Bill O is much worse, and you don't see Fox firing their yapping little cash cow no matter how obnoxious he is.
Well in all fairness, there is a big difference between the ratings that Olbermann got over Bill O. Like him or hate him, Bill O brings in the viewers. There are more people watching a high school talent show than the amount of folks that watch Olbermann.

Yeah, MSNBC doesn't have the viewership of Fox News, but Olbermann was the biggest name on the network. It does seem fishy that he would be fired right after the acquisition by Comcast went through.
I don't know if fishy is the right word. Sometimes its as simple as a change in direction. By firing Olbermann, its the equal to being lost in the forest and then finding a compass to help guide you. One direction was wrong and the other leads to liberty. Its really that simple...lol
Awww yea capitalism! I wonder if this country would be a better place if we stopped allowing O'Riley and Beck watchers to vote.
Olbermann was more of a prize pig than a cash cow. O'Reilly was just a little more prolific ratings and media wise (books and radio).
The problem here is we, viewers/management, like Bill. Obviously, nobody (as understood by his ratings and his firing) liked Keith.
Really? Can't shut us up so you want to shut us down. Is that your wondering answer for a better world? Oh, you want the Cocteau plan. "According to Cocteau's plan, I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal?"
Good riddens. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. I don't understand why the librals on this board didn't learnt the free markets in school (probably because they were smoking so much drugs LOL). If hannitys ratings were as low on fox news, therefore fox news would fire him too because thats their freedom as a business.. something the leftwingers wouldn't ever get. Ratings are proof of capitalism is working. Quality programming (as shown by viewer demand) like American Idol and CSI make the chinese jealous of america. Also, truth and god's word has no agenda, thats why fox news is doing so well versus liberal infotainment which cnn &msnbc call news. Here's a video showing how crappy he was, talking about the so-called death of objectivity in news (yeah right). irony thing, he reads ted koppels op-ed on air in which ted blames both olbermann and o'reilley for editorializing news for the sake of ratings lol. <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7lOMwWO5QaE?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe> Sarcasm aside, although I rarely watch cable news (corporate mass media), Olbermann was the lesser of many evils. Yes, he was as an egomaniac at times, in addition to being self-righteous and smug. But, he would drop gems now and then like the above, and was willing to respond on air to biting satire in which Jon Stewart criticized his transformation from a decent left-leaning journalist to the liberal version of Rush Limbaugh.
