I downloaded some p*rn and it hit 10mb/sec. Did Comcast up the download speed by 2.5x??? With TW, my max was around 400kb/sec. 10 mb/sec for $45 a month is nice. high five! edit* 10mb/sec, not 1mb!!! hehe
I used the 2wire speed test and got a bandwidth reading of 6.77 Mbps; I dont recall ever seeing anything higher than around 4 Mbps before www.2wire.com
I've hit over 1MB per second a couple of times. One time last week it took 15 seconds to download a 16MB application. This doesn't happen often and my download speeds vary all over the place.
yeah i was averaging over 600 after the switch but more recently i've been getting over 800kb/s. i'm really liking comcast so far.
eh the max i have gotten out of my sbcglobal is 650k but then again i pay 30 dollars total for my dsl AND local/long distance phone charges.
Just did it 5 times and averaged 2.47 per sec, sharing a network with 2 other computers. Does that divide the speed?
no not unless your computer is connected to the other two computers by a hub. most likely all 3 computers are connected by a switch (or router with switch capabilities) and the speed each computer sees is the line speed. Thats assuming the other computers are downloading anything while you're running your speed test.
Yeah, I think that 2wire thing is broke, or am I reading something wrong? I ran it three times and got in the 80's each time. Port open or not that just ain't right. When I download music it usually doesn't go over 450 kbps, with 50 kbps upload.
Comcast has this thing called PowerBoost which temporarily increases your speeds http://www.mouseprint.org/?p=251
