It blows my mind that the defending Superbowl champs, playing the best team in the NFL, would think that they need fake crowd noise, especially in a dome.

Wow, that is UNBELIEVABLE! Unless that's some kind of sound-chop job (is that a word?), I just don't know what to say. Makes you wonder how many other teams do it.

Assuming it wasn't a CBS glitch, this is a situation I'm going to be interested to watch. It's easy for them to come down hard on the Patriots, since most people hate them. Will they come down similarly hard on their precious Colts?

Indianapolis has been accused of this before.

Taking away a first round draft pick is substantial in today's NFL. That set the standard, and they've also warned teams about the noise amplifying consequences before... if it's not a glitch, I hope the result is the same.

I think they should be made to trade Joseph Addai to the Texans for Ron Dayne straight up.

    It's only fair.

Wow! I've (in the past) suspected that they fabricated crowd noise!

C'mon, you can get that effect with a data transmission glitch. I get that myself in my audio programs when the CPU gets starved so it can't relay the next buffer of audio to the speakers. It'd be very hard to convince me it's a CD.

People hated the Patriots before the cheating incident? No sarcasm there. I always thought it was the other way around.

Looks like CBS is taking the fall for it:

CBS TAKES BLAME FOR SOUND GLITCH

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that CBS has taken responsibility for the bizarre sound glitch that has prompted speculation that the Colts were caught red-handed in the act of piping phony crowd noise into the RCA Dome.

Per Schefter, the vibrating sound as the Pats were driving at the start of the fourth quarter was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck. Schefter says that the sound could not be heard in the stadium.

We've spoken to some radio folks who also believe that the phenomenon was not the result of a glitch during the use of artificial crowd noise.

Oh well. Controversy is a lot juicier. But even when the truth isn't sexy, we've still got to respect it.

I call BS. Funny how the commentators voices did not skip like cds and how when the skipping stopped, everything seemed to get really quiet.

    1) they do use multiple microphones and some are on field level.

    2) it was quiet because their defense just got beat for a 1st down on a second and long play.
