Who will have a better year next year? I think we would have been better off getting collison instead of lee. Other then turning the ball over way too much collison was better than brooks in pretty much everyway.
I personally think Collison will be the 1st or 2nd best player on a bad team. And Brooks will be the third, MAYBE FOURTH (Yao/Martin defin better, Scola debatable) best player on a good team. Who will have a better year? Probably Collison. Who is a better player? Right now, I say Brooks. Since the poll asked the first question, I voted Collison.
Brooks is a better shooter and ball handler (maybe not as fancy but doesn't turn it over as much). Don't think either are great defensively.
You realize Lowry just got a big deal and Brooks is due for a big deal? Why would you want 3 good midgets?
We could have easily traded Lowry... or if you disagree, it's time to admit that Morey severely overpaid.
I know there is at least one team interested in paying him that much. But Lowry is just an ideal backup PG. He brings toughness and energy off the bench. And even though he is a backup, there is no arguing how valuable he is to the squad. Collison and Brooks have both proven to be serviceable starters but I don't think any of us know how one would be coming off the bench. For this particular team, I think Lee is a better pickup than Collison. Also keep in mind, had we taken Collison, we would have been stuck with James Posey's old ass and long contract.
collison will put up insane stats. and he's a better PG than brooks. and i think he'll be a better player next year bar none. brooks is playing the mike bibby role, and he's doing it very well. he's a scorer, and that's all he is. but he's damn good at that.
Wasn't he a walking turnover last year? He showed flashes but he is still far from being the starter on a good team.
Collison may not have been an option. Did NO have a trade exception to give us or were the salaries even close enough to pull off a two team deal?
he averaged 2.6 for the season and around 3.2-3.4 when he got big minutes. and he's a rookie. dwayne wade averages that and he's in his 7th year. hell, he averaged 4.5 turnovers like 2-3 times in his career. if he dishes out 9-10 dimes and averaging 2.5-3.5 turnovers as a 2nd year, that's GREAT. he's a better player than brooks when he got starter minutes last year, much better.
HORSE**** !!!! He had a different role than Brooks. Anyone who understands the difference in what is being asked should know better. DD
Just checked it on BSPN Trade Machine and you are 100% correct. Posey himself earns more than Ariza. Plus Collison, Rockets would have been trading $6.3M for $8.5M. We needed NJ/Indy in there.
as a starter averaging 40 mpg collison put up 18.6ppg, 3.6rpg, 9apg, 1.4spg, 4.1 tpg, 48%fg, 42.5% 3pt, 85% ft with an effieciency of 20.2 sure he had a different role than brooks when he was a starter, but he still scored as much and scored more efficiently. and the hornets played a SLOWER tempo. and the hornets had a near .500 record with him as their best player, about as good as chris paul last year. he was better. and he will be considered better next year.
^^^Says the guy who was on Tmac's bus all of last year. Uh, no thanks.... I like Collison, but he has to prove it over a whole year as a starter and actually WIN games. Let's see how he does in Indiana.....I would take Brooks at this point.... DD
lol, notice how you don't bring any facts. i like those types of disussion collison started 36 games last year. it isn't a 5-10 game fluke where anyone can get lucky here. yes, he will have to prove it over an entire season. but he has the tools to be MUCH better than brooks, don't you agree? shoot, pass, defend, efficient... he is what you want in a PG. the only thing he has to improve on is those turnovers. but he was a rookie.
For 36 games, Collison was the better player, as a rookie... Indiana got a steal... What hurts Aaron Brooks when you rate PGs is that he has Nash level defense and Rafer level court vision. Sure, he can shoot, and he is quick as lightning, but he has severe weaknesses that are unlikely to improve very much. That said, he could be perfect for the Princeton If they can find the right players to put around him, specifically defenders. Kevin Martin and Chase Budinger, being two of the worst on-ball defenders in the league, do not help much. Thank the lord for Courtney Lee and not having to watch Trevor try to get homerun steals every damn play...
