I hope we got more than just Jason and a protected first round pick. ------------------ Fuggetabout it
I agree Big Boy, I guess RT & the boys had so much fun with this years lottery pick that they want to do it again next year. Only positive is we should have a ton of draft picks next few years, but I guess we can continue making stupid draft day trades with them too. ------------------
i bet there is another trade in the works here -- they may be waiting to see if the player they REALLY want is available with their next pick. be patient young grasshoppers -- believe in RT an Carroll ------------------
Yeah but who in their right mind would want Collier? Maybe we could packege the draft picks owed to us, but now i'm getting more pi$$ed, still can't believe we had Pryz and traded him. ------------------
BigBoy I know what you mean when we selected Pryz I was PISSED, when I heard we traded him for Collier when I was on my way to the A's game I almost broke my friends windshield, I was more pissed than I was after the Pippen trade. PLEASE tell me this is a BAD Dream. Man I think Rudy is back to his DUI days. As you can see IM PISSED. ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
I was wrong last year. A year later changes so much. I was pissed last year since I thought (and still do) that Alexander would be a good player in the NBA and a good person to play the 3rd guard position. I was not a big fan of Shannon or Walt. Last year's draft turned out to be filled with lots of prospects and little substance. I fear this about the upcoming draft with a lot of picks early as there are a lot of players with big potential for stardom and bustdom. This draft also has a lot of safe picks, IMO. Trading the #9 is looking very smart/lucky to me now. The seniors and juniors are good plus every undergrad/ highschooler that could be 1st rd material came out. The #22 has helped the rockets get the #18 and 23. These picks may get the rockets something real this year. And Collier has shown signs of being a servicable backup. A year goes by and I still want that 3rd guard/SF that the rockets offense lacks. HP, I never learn. ------------------
We could have had the dunk champion, instead we got a player that would struggle in a CBA game. There had better not be a repeat. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death." It's back... Protrolls.com!
Trading down for Collier was a good idea. Think about this: 1) Pryz is 3rd string behind Earvin Johnson & Mark Pope. 2) Collier's stat's compare to those of Pryzbilla. 3) As pointed out by Joe Joe - having the Bucks' 22nd probably aided getting #18 in a deep draft. 4) Collier's '01 contract is about $350k less than Pryz. IMHO, aquiring Collier is a large part of why the Rockets have so many options available to them. Imagine how many scenarios here at CC.net would dry up if they only had #13. ------------------ Raef to Rocks in '01-'02! [This message has been edited by GATER (edited June 03, 2001).]
I think Joel Przybilla for Jason Collier and a draft pick was a good trade. In the early parts of this season Collier was giving the Rockets a big boost off the bench at the center position with Kelvin Cato injured. Collier's three-point game proved to be a valuable asset at the center position because he brought the opposing big men out so Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, Moochie Norris and Shandon Anderson could make the easy layup with no shot-blocker by the rim. Here are some of the great games Collier has had: 10 points (making 4-6 field goal shots) and 4 rebounds in 13 minutes against the Los Angeles Lakers 12 points (making 5-9 field goal shots), 2 blocks and 4 rebounds against the Portland TrailBlazers in 21 minutues 10 points (making 6-8 free throws) in 16 minutes against the Lakers Collier would have made it on the NBA Rookie Team if he played more games at the way he was playing. ------------------ [This message has been edited by DJ (edited June 03, 2001).]
Im surprised The Cat didn't reply to this LOL ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
Bigboy, Draft day was crazy. Trading down from the 15 may have been dificult as teams didn't want the extra salary. ------------------
IF WE HAD DRAFTED C. ALEXANDER WE WOULD BE TAKING ONE WING PLAYER AND TWO BIG MEN.NO DOUBT! ------------------

Give Collier a break. Rudy kept him on the IR so he could learn the system and work on his strength. I look for both Collier and Langhi to surprise a lot of critics. And, by the way, Cat's probably hanging back in order to have a significant post for #3000. I, for one, am looking forward to it. ------------------
LilFrancis, I will now. We could have had the dunk champion, instead we got a player that would struggle in a CBA game. There had better not be a repeat. Let's analyze this a little here. Who gives a **** that the guy can dunk? Wow, he can do some cool dunks. What does that prove? Also, even if you like some of his game besides dunking, Mason is a SG. Period. At 6'5, this guy is not going to play SF, so don't even dream of that. We had a three guard rotation all year long of Steve, Cat, and Mooch. For him to make this team better he'd obviously have to be better than one of those three, or he'd sit on the bench all day. So, would you rather have Mason than either Francis, Cat or Mooch? If the answer is yes, you're insane. And take a look back at Collier's numbers when he was fully healthy and given the backup center minutes, in November. The numbers he produced, offensively and defensively, as the backup center were better than most backup cetner's in the whole league. And they're ten times better than those of Pryzbilla, Moiso, E. Thomas, etc. I already went through this with LilFrancis, so I'm not going to type it up again. Just check the thread below. It has Collier's numbers right before your eyes when he got time as the backup center and was healthy. Tell me just how we could've done better in that draft than Collier and a pick this year. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum3/HTML/012909.html P.S. Enbehay-- I'm hoping to have that 3000 post tonight after a certain game 7... that would be a good way to celebrate it! I think Collier will turn out to be a nice backup center, but I wouldn't exactly call his play consistent. Playing OK in a stretch of 10 games or less doesn't warrant that title. And by the way, the Bucks have NO CHANCE ------------------ [This message has been edited by tacoma park legend (edited June 03, 2001).]
I have to agree with TPL. The zone defense should definitely help players like Collier. However, most would agree we could have gotten Collier much later in the draft. ------------------ Fuggetabout it
