Collier not a center?

How is a guy that is 7-0, 260, not be a true center? He may not play offense like a center, but his bulk makes it where he can defend most centers. Is Sam Perkins a center? He doesn't play the same game as Shaq or Dream or Zo, but he is still a center because of his size.

What I'm trying to say is, is there something I don't know about Collier that makes people say he is more of a 4 than 5?

I think it's because Collier didn't play center at Georgia Tech. At least not as a starter. Alvin Jones(6-11, 265) started at center for them and Collier started at PF. He probably played some center when Jones was on the bench.

Yup, CougarBrass hit the exact reason. Jason Collier's game has the versatility to move to the 4 spot b/c of his ability to play on the perimeter along with playing on the inside. Alvin Jones is strictly an interior player, rebounder and shot blocker type. Jones stays around the basket area and cannot really step out on the perimeter like Collier can. This is one of the reasons that Collier is valuable to this team as he will be able to step out and guard PFs that shoot the mid range shot. That way Cato can stay around the basket area and block shots.
