what is the health state of Collier? I've heard he is still on the mend. Does anyone know if he will be ready to play by the time the season starts????
I dont really think it matters, Collier will not contribute this year, and may never contribute. I just dont see it happening.
Damn Ms. Cleo you done piss of da Cat! That is one thing you dont do on this board. He will come up with enough facts to make your head spin. Anyways I am with Cat on this one. Why wont he contribute? When he was healthy he was able to hit the outside shot. That is what we need from him anyways. In either case he cant be worse then Cato
Collier really impressed me last year after I started bashing him. IF (and that's a big if) Collier is healthy, I think he will continue to impress once he's in condition. Now, I'm not saying he'll be the second coming...just that he will be better than most expect. Does anyone know how far along he is on the road to recovery?
The Friday after the Dream trade, CD was on 610 in the morning, and he said Collier was definately scheduled to be ready when the preseason starts. His knee problems during the summer league were minor, and if it were the real season, Collier would have played. They were just being overly cautious. j
Pops had said in a post last week that he was progressing well. The way it sounded from him, Collier will be ready to go by opening night barring any freak things from preseason. We definitely will need Collier as well as another big man like a Jahidi White. If we had a 3 center rotation that had 18 fouls to give every night, it may not be pretty but it would slow down some teams.
Personally, I think that with a healthy Collier and a halfway-motivated Cato, obtaining another C won't even be necessary. For a while I bashed Collier, but TheCat jumped on me pretty quick with a few facts, and I realised that he can contribute significantly when healthy. The only question I have is: Can he stay healthy? If he can, and we can get Cato to make at least some effort in the blocking/rebounding/intimidation department, we'll be able to platoon w/ Mo, KT, and Griffin at the 5 and make up for the shortfall with our other positions... I think the closer we get to preseason, the more important this question will be. If we pass up the BYC deadline and don't acquire another 5 before preseason, then it will become THE critical question...
That is a lot to ask for, treeman. Collier was at best, an average third string backup and you'd have an easier time trying to get Thomas Hamilton to do Tai-Bo than getting Cato motivated(btw, I hope I'm wrong about Cato).
Pimp: IF we can get Cato to play a little (and that is a big IF), then Collier might turn out to be a godsend at the 5, relatively speaking. With the Run'n Gun offense we'll be putting on the floor, it would only increase the threat if we have a 5th scoring option we can put on the floor - an impossible lineup to deal with defensively. Granted, Collier is not the banger we all want/need. But when healthy he can mix it up a little inside, and he is a fairly reliable scorer out to 15' when healthy. I can't stress how much it will strain defenses to have to guard him as well as guarding our 1-4 positions - that will be a defensive nightmare for opposing teams. IF he is healthy, that is. And IF Cato is more on the Catomic side than the Catotonic one, that is... (I agree, it's alotta "if's")
