I'm hearing Collier is impressing the Rockets staff big time with his strength and has put on 20 pounds -- said to be "solid muscle". I'm kind of in 'believe it when I see it' mode, but he apparently is very strong.

Problem is he has no wind and still has a ways to go to get his shot and conditioning back after the knee injury. To get that back, he may have to shed some of that weight. The good news is he's not experiencing any pain in the knee.

Also, apparently Glen Rice was p-i-s-s-e-d when the deal was stopped.... he apparently was/is very, very excited to be a Rocket.

Thanks for the info Clutch.

more news, more news more news.

Maybe with the departure of Dream, Collier is trying to get past Cato and win the starting job.

:p

I would be pissed too, but it's great to hear once again that Rice is excited about being in Houston.

I'm glad to see Collier is motivated. He knows he is going to get playing time this year and is stepping up to the challenge. Overcoming Cato at the C spot shouldn't be too hard.

That is awesome. I have been a big supporter of Collier, and I am sure that if he stays healthy, he'll be making a lot of posters eat their words.

Thx Clutch. Any word on whether or not Rice is still pissed? Is everything cool like he said?

Good that our token weird big white guy is working out. If he is out much longer, we'll have to find a new weird big white guy.

Maybe we should work up some sort of nice gesture to Rice's wife, assure her she will like Houston. Scratch it, I'll do it myself, forget it.

hmm....I can believe he added weight, but I'm also believe in the school of thought that too much muscle isn't good for you in sports like baseball and basketball. I don't know if Collier was a weakling last year, but that muscle could hurt his vertical and flexibility.

Besides, I don't know too many 283 pounders (east of Portland) who can shoot 18 foot jumpers. But, I hope it works out well.

I'm glad Glen is excited.

Is there no chance he can keep the muscle and regain his wind? I have faith he will regain his shooting touch only because, if he is working on strength, he probably is working on his shot. In what kind of shape is Cato? We have some of the best trainers in the league. If they can get these two ready, the Rockets don't need Mihm (didn't think I'd ever write that!) or White or Jackson. Thanks, Clutch, your news was very reassuring.

Just great! We finally get Cato in a position where he'll have no more excuses to use & will snap out of his depression, then Collier comes along & screws it up for us. :D

As far as Collier's conditioning goes, that'll come with lots of wind sprints. The beauty of it is, he won't lose the muscle, just additional body fat. I definitely like seeing this kind of an attitude from a rookie.

20 lbs. of pure muscle? Did he lose that 25% body fat before he packed that stuff on? :D

As a Rockets fan, I am disappointed in the response to Clutch's good news about Collier. Many of us have been concerned about the center situation, but apparently there are basketball racists out there who would rather not have "the weird resident white guy" even if he is working to improve his contribution to the team. Collier should be commended and we as fans should be heartened by this development. Derisive comments aren't helpful unless you are really closet Lakers / Blazers supporters. I don't know from where the term "fan" arose, but one definition is a "wind generator." In this case we are getting a lot of wind, but it's all hot air.

I'll believe it's 20 pounds of "muscle" when I see it. If it's true I think it's a good thing, assuming it doesn't hurt his shooting touch or ruin his 4 inch vertical! :)
But wasn't there reports last off-season that Cato had bulked up? And that did him alot of good!

Man I hope the guy comes around and does reallly well because he has been resented from the moment he was drafted and derided with just about every chance he got to play. Those of you who have either supported him or at least not denounced him may have your day yet! And do the Rox need it...

I've supported Collier for a while . .. and *gasp*
I'm not white. Hell I've been saying he should
start over Kelvin Craddle for a while. . .

This is Excellent news. . .now KC can get his
6 fouls in 7 minutes without hurting us too much
