Hey - do ya'll think Collier will still be on the Rockets roster this year? Personally, I don't think he will even though he has a guaranteed contract, but I think Les wants to WIN and WIN NOW! Collier hasn't DONE squat for us in the last two years. If I recall correctly, he said he was gonna make the Rockets GLAD they drafted him. And yet what does he have to show for it? Nothing! He hasnt even given us a double double at all! I say we just let that boy go and since we have Yao and Kelvin we use them two as our MAIN two centers. Eddie and Mo both can PLAY some center (garbage minutes). And put in some legitimite forwards and guards on our team. Let Collier go somewhere else and play ball somewhere else. Whatcha think?
I just want to say a quick thanks to Jason for his years of service to the Rocket cause. Thank you Mr. Collier for helping us get the number one pick! You are da man!
I'm not ready to give up on Collier just yet, he has been injured for most of the two years he's been here, and when he's actually gotten on the floor he's looked halfway decent. I think that Collier makes the team unless either Goodrich or Watson really impress in camp. I just cannot se the Rockets going into the season with only Yao and Cato at center.
Unless we've got an All-Star center willing to sign for the mid-level exemption, I can't figure out why we wouldn't keep Collier. It's unreasonable to expect starting caliber players 1-12.
Yea, but asking for NBA caliber players 1-12 isn't asking too much. I wouldn't say that Collier is an NBA caliber player.
If MoT is looking good, I think they'll let Collier go since he can play some 5. The more intersting prospects are TMo, Tierre and Tito. Plus we got a couple other long shots. I'd say drop Collier since we know what he's about. Use his spot for a hopeful up-and-comer.
Please answer the following: 1) If Yao Ming wears down because he is not used to the NBA travel and number of games and/or Kelvin Cato get injured...are you comfortable with Mo Taylor or Kenny Thomas playing center? I'm not. Nor am a ready to throw EG in the pit for extended minutes in the absence of either Yao or Cato. 2) Can you name a player who is available and will cost less than $2.0m who can play the center when Yao or Kato are not able to play? I selected $2.0m because anything over that amount will likely take the Rox over the LT level and windup costing alot more than Collier does. Certainly more than the Rocks want to pay. (You have noticed they didn't offer their MCE to anyone)? If the Rockets waive Collier, he still hits the salary cap for his $1.4m. That's dirt cheap for a 3rd string center. Let him be...he won't get extended next summer, he's been through 3 camps and with the possible exception of Steve Goodrich you won't find another available quality backup 5 for less.
You mean the same MoT that regularly gets blasted on this board for being soft, having no low post game and can't rebound?
I would not mind the Rocks cutting him. My guess is a full year on IR since his contract is guaranteed. DD
