Has anyone seen this ranking or paid attention to it. The rankings are a total player-rating system based on various offensive and defensive statistics. Players increase their scores with every contribution they make to the game. Marcus Williams did not fair well in this ranking at #473. I don't think this ranking takes into account the strength of the conference but I guess it is better to be on the top than on the bottom. http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/playerrankings/regularseason/OVERALL?&_1:col_1=1
Do they show how they calculate the ratings? A great site for some advanced college basketball stats is: http://www.kenpom.com/stats.php He doesn't publish an overall individual player rating, but you can see the leaderboard for the following stats: Stats Glossary Percentage of Minutes Played Offensive Rating (overall offensive efficiency rating) Percentage of Possessions Used Percentage of Shots Taken Effective FG% Offensive Rebounding% Defensive Rebounding% Free Throw Rate (ability to get free throws per field goal attempt) Assist Rate (% of teammate's field goals he assisted) Turnover Rate Block Percentage Steal Percentage
OK, dear Mr. Morey, no matter what your magic stats formula/voodoo machine say (hopefully different from this website), please don't use our #8 on guys Fazekas, Tucker or Davis.
