Wellp, seasons about to wind down pretty soon... got 2 more weeks left after this one before the entertainment begins in December/January... A few interesting games this week: TCU-Utah -- looking forward to seeing TCU keep up their D... Iowa-OSU Rest of the bunch: Texas-Baylor UH-UCF Bama-Miss. St. Florida-South Carolina Pitt-ND Looking forward to seeing another good slate of games this week.
I hope ND wins because I want Weiss to keep his job. I'm concerned that Urban Meyer could go there next year.
If it's any consolation, Meyer signed a contract extension last year and basically said he is staying at Florida until his kids are out of the house. He's a pretty big family man and one of the main reasons he chose Florida over Notre Dame initially was because he could recruit in Florida and still be home in time for dinner with his family.
TCU is one rank behind UT and TCU is playing a ranked team, UT is playing Baylor. Shouldn't you be cheering for TCU to lose?
It doesn't matter. TCU isn't jumping UT... I don't know how you think the Harris and USA polls are going to let that happen. The computers probably will... but there won't be a tie in any of those two polls for TCU and UT.. UT clearly has the better team, I think the fact that we got robbed last year as well will go into that factor.
I'm holding my breath til UH comes back from this damn road trip... no more heart stopper finishes please. UCF is no push over. I want to see them play a complete game...
Can't wait till the TCU game. Looks like I won't be headed there after all, missing out on a fun night up in FW. But I'll be in Lafayette, LA partying it up. Going to watch the game before hand though. Another ranked opponent for TCU. Go Frogs!!!! Give 'Em Hell TCU!
I wouldn't say UT is clearly better than TCU. I'm not really sure what you're basing that on. According to the following article, TCU actually played a tougher schedule this year. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/stewart_mandel/11/11/texas-schedule/index.html?eref=sihp I do completely agree though that TCU won't pass UT if both were to win out. And you're right that some voters may want to reward UT this year for screwing them over last season.
I think you're right on, the computers will bump TCU but not the human polls; however, it could be close if TCU whips Utah and UT struggles against Baylor (unlikely).
I am looking forward to the Arkansas/Troy game. I kind of view this as a trap game for the Razorbacks. Troy is 7-2, having won seven straight, but over mostly Sun Belt teams. Troy has given AQC teams problems before, even knocking off a few. They almost beat LSU in Death Valley last season. If Arkansas wins, they will be bowl eligible in Bobby Petrino's second year as head coach. After a disappointing loss to Ole Miss, the Razorbacks seemed to turn things around with a blowout over Eastern Michigan and their best win of the season versus South Carolina. I will be let down in a big way if the Razorbacks come out flat against a solid Troy team. Taking into consideration the muddled second tier of SEC teams, if Arkansas were able to win out or win two of its last three games, it would have a great shot at the Cotton Bowl. An Oklahoma State vs. Arkansas Cotton Bowl has the potential to be a very entertaining game. The scoreboard operator in an OSU/Ark matchup would likely be working overtime.
Even if the computer bump TCU over UT this week, by seasons end TCU will fall back down having their remaining games against Wyoming and New Mexico.
Good to see that you guys got a sellout. I fully expect TCU to dominate but could you start to put some asses in the seats? For the sake of the conference?
Damnit... I had these early games... 11 AM again... hopefully this time, Texas will score in the first quarter.
It could be a close game and Texas still wouldn't get passed in the BCS standings... because the polls wouldn't allow it.. regardless of if TCU dominated Utah and Texas struggled and still won against Baylor. I know that sounds kind of cocky... but TCU isn't passing up Texas just because they are having a glory season... we started out #2... we have some leverage.
