I do not want to see USC vs. OSU for the national title. Please god put some other freaking school in the national title game for once.
If ND scores here and its somewhat not to terrible of a loss, isnt it possible Michigan could stay #2? Oh and ND o-line is TERRIBLE
If OSU and USC play for the national title, wont that make it to where ONLY 2 teams will have made up at least half of the national title contenders over the past 5 years? That is freaking lame. College football is becoming like the MLB or something.. P.S. John David Booty throws the prettiest deep ball in all of the NCAA (except for Kolb)
Notre Dame and everything they represent = A Joke. I find it absolutely amazing that the announcers are talking about how Notre Dame has "absolutely" done enough to make a BCS bowl with their schedule and wins. They've been absolutely demolished by their two top opponents (Michigan and USC) and struggled to wins over the mediocre teams they've played in their best two victories (Georgia Tech and Penn State). If they go to the Rose, Sugar, or Orange Bowl, it's a ****ing disgrace.
Agreed, but then again I feel USC is overrated as well. They play in the freaking PAC-10, conference is a joke.
I don't think the Big Ten is so much better than the pac 10 that someone trying to prop up the Big Ten can call out the pac 10 for being weak.
There is no way Michigan shoud get another shot at Ohio State, USC definetely desrves to go. They have beaten Nebraska, at Arkansas, Notre Dame, Cal and Oregon. But in the end I don't think it'll make any difference, Ohio State will beat whoever they play. As far as ND goes, they are simply not talented enough on defense or on the o-line. Weis inherited a hell of a QB and WR in Brady Quinn and Jeff Samardzija, but other than that, Tyrone Willingham left the cupboard bare. They are going to be able to recruit very good players, and they already have he #1 QB in the country to replace Quinn, so I think once they get more talent, they'll be a perennial title contender. And Quinn probably wowed the NFL scouts pretty good tonite, he is really a prototype NFL QB, size, poise, mobility, the arm, the whole package, a shame he'll have to go to the Raiders. On Southern Cal, what a job by Pete Carroll, lose Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, LenDale White and are the #2 team in the country about to play for a national title again. This run since he took over is ridiculous, the players he has put out, the staggering W-L record, this is a dynasty. And the team this yr is chock full of freshman and sophmores, they will be the unanimous preseason #1 team next yr. Unreal.
As far as I'm concerned Southern Cal did win it in 03. They finished the season ranked as the #1 team in the country, they were the national champions, regardless of what LSU did in the Sugar Bowl. After OU got their ass whooped by KState in the Big XII title game, they shouldn't have even played for the title, so LSU's was not hands down the national champs.
I don't mind seeing USC in the big game. Last year's UT win over USC was the greatest college national championship bowl game I've ever seen. If USC can score on OSU, then I figure it'd be another really fun and exciting game.
IMHO, USC is overrated, Nortre Dame is way overrated. So the overrated team beats the way overrated team and now the overrated team will become even more overrated. I never thought I'd right a sentence with a word recurring so many times. Overrated. Back to my point, I hate the short-term memory voters. Many people said Notre Dame and USC were overrated midway into the season, but suddenly THIS game is the confirmation the analysts needed to prove they weren't all they were cracked up to be. If it does end up OSU/USC get ready to flip the channel at half time after watching OSU run up the score.
Yeah, but from the loss perspective, Michigan lost to OSU, USC lost to Oregon. Seems to me that Michigan is more deserving of a rematch.
Just curious as to how you would rank the conferences. I think SEC is clearcut #1 followed by Big Ten...
OSU's championship opponent should really be Florida (contingent on winning, of course) or Michigan. - Making it through the SEC with one loss is brilliant - Michigan's only loss was a close one to the #1 team in the country - USC's loss blew, and they didn't handle Notre Dame any better than Michigan did I don't hate the BCS as much as some people do, but an OSU-USC championship would be a joke. ****, Boise State has as good an argument as the Trojans - they kicked the hell out of Oregon State.
