So, on that play -- USC ripped the Oregon State running back's helmet off, yet no penalty for a facemask and they blow the play dead, even though he was never close to down and bounced it outside. If there's one play to epitomize USC football, that's it.
What a fluke. That boneheaded play by that D-lineman that gave them the 1st down and another chance at the end zone was so stupid it's a shame. Then the lucky non-interception that's tipped to the receiver for a touchdown and it's 21-0 at halftime. Oregon State is a bad team and I look for USC to come out smoking and score over 30 points in the 2nd half. It will be a completely new game. Don't forget that Pete Carroll's USC teams are known for exploding in the 2nd half.
Not only is USC losing, but they are getting absolutely DOMINATED on both sides of the ball. The first down yards per play stat they showed a few minutes ago was amazing, something like 7.4 vs. 0.4. However, I've seen Pete Carroll come back from too many large deficits to say that this one is even close to over.
USC has their mojo back. Their defense shuts OSU down easily and they overcome the 15 penalty on offense on 4th down.
If USC wins, I don't want to hear one ****ing word from the national media about some amazing comeback or how this proves mental toughness. Oregon State is terrible. God awful. Lost to f'n Stanford and lost by 31 to Penn State. Hell, Missouri beat Buffalo by 21 last weekend and you had headlines of how they looked "sloppy." Georgia dropped in the polls after beating South Carolina by 7. With all that said, I wouldn't put it past ESPN to do the complete reverse here and somehow use this as an example of USC's dominance. It'd be despicable, but they've done it for years -- why stop now?
ESPN loves to smooch USC. I will never forget them asking if USC the greatest college football team of all time, BEFORE they even played Texas in the Rose Bowl. I normally kind of like USC, but that made me root hard for Texas and it was sweet when VY crossed the goal line late. Coming back to win this tonight would prove USC was not mentally prepared when the game started. Mental "toughness" has nothing to do with it.
LOL at the lineman that started through up gang signs after tackling the punt returner at their own 42.
