This isn't about the playoffs but the fact that ACC, Big 10,Pac 10 and ACC get automatic BCS bids when thier conference this year is really weak. I still like the bowl system (as I've stated before, I like the NFL but would not follow a game without my favorite team playing) because of how much a game like USC vs. Oregon state can mean and the attention it draws. Or the fact that Tech vs. UT is must see TV in October. However, I don't like the fact that conferences right now that are almost on the same level as the mid-majors get auto bids.

My solution, keep the current BCS system, but have the 4 on NCS auto bids play the four at large teams. If those at large teams win, then their conference gets the auto bid next year and the losing team's conferences looses the auto bid. All conferences can still only have one at large team in the BCS, but can win unlimited auto bids. I think it'd make the non-NCS BCS games even more fun and schools will have as much pride in their conferences as well as their schools.
