Hi Ya'll, this really didn't fit in Fantasy sports, College (because it emphasizes hoops), or the Texan section, so I posted in the hang out. Anyway, not that I have any money involved, but there are some easy games to pick this weekend: Just about a SURE THING: extra special pick: MICHIGAN (-10) over Utah. Utah should have lost by 30 to Arizona (they were out gained like 500-200). John Mac. made some ill advised calls and the game became close on the scoreboard despite a huge talent difference. Count on a big win by a hornet mad Michigan team, 30+ point victory. GAMES I ALSO LIKE: Fresno St (+11) over OREGON ST Fresno wasn't just Carr, they are not bad on either side of the ball. I am not convinced OSU is anything special, way too much point to give up. Va tech (2.5) over the AGGIES. Two of the worst starting QBs on all the land, and they happen to play for a very good and solid team nonetheless. I don't see any way the Aggies can score, plus you gotta love VT's special teams. Low scoring but I like the Gobblers to cover a field goal no problem. The Gobblers can also pull Noel and turn to a back-up QB with some experience who can change the pace with his feet, an ace in the hole I don't see the Aggies having as a reasonable option. bc (-26) over Miami. BC isn't garbage, I like their odds to stay inside of 4 TDs, even in the Orange Bowl. GAME I THOUGHT I WOULD LIKE MSU -1.5 over nd. I liked this more when ND was favored earlier in the week, the betters have acted smart to not overreact to last week and adjusted. It is a toss up now. Arizona (+6) over WISCONSIN. I thought for sure you were going to be able to get 10-12 points given the unranked Arizona squad and a 18thish Badger team playing at home. Well, as with the MSU-nd game, the betters are on top of this one--right now it is only WISC -6. Two other factors, Arizona lost one of the better corners in the Pac 10 yesterday due to a probable ACL injury in practice (Micheal Jolivette) and may have a starting safety on top of this. But the Badgers best WR won't play either. At under 1 touchdown I won't touch this game because it could go either way. UT (-36) over Houston. On talent difference this is a reasonable spread, but emotions can some times close some of the gap. UT will win and win easily, but the Coogs will put all all their stops and fight like dogs untill the end so I am not confident UT will cover 5+ touchdowns. I'll stay away.
The one that I like the most is Tenneseee (-4) over Florida. I know this has been a close rivalry in years past, but that Miami game really showed Florida's holes this season. The receivers, outside of Taylor Jacobs, have looked terrible. Grossman's decision making has also been suspect... a lot of this may have to do with his lack of receivers, but he is not dominating games the way he did last year. Florida struggled last week to put points up on the board at home vs. Ohio. I really like Tennessee... they are my pick to meet Texas for the NC. I'm not sure how good the running game will be immediately, with Stephens gone, but Tennessee will have plenty of time to adjust with Clausen and Washington. Washington, imo, is the best player in the country this year... he really is "the future". Their tight end, Witten, is also a huge receiving threat... I think Tennessee clearly has a better team this year, and when you consider the fact that the game is in Knoxville... I think they'll end up winning by about 10 to 14 points.
I'm surprised the line for UT-UF is still at 4pts in favor of Tennessee. Should be closer to a touchdown. Don't take FSU with the 45 point spread versus Duke this week. FSU's already stated that they will play their reserves liberally this week, as they play again on Thursday and would like to see some competition light up Chris Rix. I wouldn't be surprised if FSU won by more than 45, but I wouldn't put money on it either way. MSU isn't as good as they have been of late. If they are favored over ND, I'd take the Irish. I think they'll win, albeit barely, but that's good enough to beat the spread. Yahoo is starting their College Pick'Em game next week if anyone's interested. I set up a league there (fantasysports.yahoo.com) with a league ID of 2881 and password of franchise, if anyone wants to continue this past this week.
Some people might go home happy picking Texas Tech over #16 NC State. They took out Eli Manning last week, and were battle tested against Ohio State in week 1. They should be alot more prepared than NC St.
MFC I will be in if we get a few BBS regulars involved. Where is Manny? I heard yesterday Noel is injured for vtech, that only helps them because know the coach won't have to play him any out of loyalty. I like vtech even more now--nearly as much as the Michigan pick. Will RC pull the red short off of Reggie McNeal in desperation? He might need to in order to move the ball, and vtech (many looks, blintzing, hard hitting D) is one of the last teams you want give a guy like that his first shot. I think they keep Reggie on the shelf no matter what happens (I really don't know if they want to red shirt him or not).

Will RC pull the red short off of Reggie McNeal in desperation? He might need to in order to move the ball, Couple of things --- Noel is their only QB who can throw the ball. The other QB they've been playing is truly horrid. Without Noel, they have virtually no passing threat (and Noel wasn't all that good in the first place). Also, Reggie McNeal is already off the redshirt because he played in Game #1. I actually think he's A&M's best chance - if anything, VaTech's weakness is pass defense and a scrambling QB. It was late, but Marshall threw for 400+ yards against them. A&M is my upset special pick this week. I also think Notre Dame continues their ridiculous start and gets to 4-0.
Major, from what I have seen Noel is trully horrible throwing the ball. He is very inaccurate plus can't move around much. IMO they are better off trying passes with the sophmore or even the other Vick depsite their inexperience--Noel is that bad at converting pass plays. Didn't know that about McNeal, but this is the wrong team to get his feet wet in meaningful action, though I agree it might give the team a better chance (probably not the best for McNeal's growth). I just don't see the Aggies passing against them whomever they put back there. They don't have Leftwich, Marshall's receivers, and familiarity with passing when the other team knows you are going to pass. They must be able to run a little so the play action works or forget it. I still like VTech taking less than a FG , I like this bet solid.

But I think the backup guy is even worse, if you can believe that . I don't see why they don't drop the redshirt on Vick - it's not like he's going to be there for 5 years anyway. I just don't see the Aggies passing against them whomever they put back there. True -- even having McNeal, it would require Slocum to dump his conservative offense. I just want to see what McNeal can do, so I'm hoping they play him! According to Corso, that other guy (Long?) will start, but McNeal will play. We'll see!
Just about a SURE THING: extra special pick: MICHIGAN (-10) over Utah. Oops Just kidding! Michigan looked terrible winning 10-7. I thought they would dominate this game. It looks like it may be a long year for Michigan.
Fresno St (+11) over OREGON ST oops Va tech (2.5) over the AGGIES. Congrats! bc (-26) over Miami. oops MSU -1.5 over nd. oops Arizona (+6) over WISCONSIN oops UT (-36) over Houston oops Just messing with you some more. I did horrible on my pick'ems this week too.

ahh the o for i typo takes on new importance in this post. also can't believe michigan didn't cover the spread and i'm sure some BC/miami gamblers were pissed at miami tacking on 21 in the 4th. and how did UT and FSU have such huge lines? i mean it wasn't unreasonable for either to cover but 35 and 45 are damn big lines. i mean we dominated UH and still only won by 30 (of course we didn't remotely try to score on offense for about the last 20 minutes it seemed).
Just for the record the last 3 I decided to pass on. Nonetheless 1-4 flat out sucks though I admit, glad I wasn't in Vegas last week Further, despite the bad market stretch I feel alot better about my 401K in stocks than if I tried to retire on sports betting--and I usually do pretty good on sports betting. The funny thing is I was looking great through 3 quarters in 3 out of 4. Michigan was dominating but not scoring. BC looked in the game, let alone safely within 4 touchdowns, and vtech was in control. But man what a 4th quarter beatings in 2/3 of those games. I guess I really have to give the Utah D credit for bending but not breaking the last 2 weeks and playing stout run D. The game I totally blew chunks at was Oregon State-FSU. OSU might be closer to their 99 form than I thought, and most definetely was the best "OSU" team playing yesterday.
I set up the league, but only mduke and I had joined...so I went ahead and left the league. It may still be there, and I'll join back if so, but there wasn't much interest.
