Lot's of rumors that A&M has bought out Francione. Could be out this week or next. What say you A&M man. I'm very saddened by this. No program or coach has brought as much joy and laughter as the Francione regime. I'll miss you francakes.
I find it hard to believe. I think he's out after the season. Why do it now? They are still 5-2. I personally don't think they're going to win another game with the schedule they're facing. I guess the powers don't think so either if this is in fact true.
i dunno but a program like A&M should not be in the state that its currently in. (this is coming from a longhorn by the way...) Texas has too many talented prospects. A&M has a huge fan base. The students and alumni are rabid. and their facilities are top notch. I heard tommy tuberville (auburn) is interested. I also think they should look at ron prince (kstate), kirk ferentz (iowa), larry coker (currently unemployed), ty wilingham (Washington) just to name a few. Seems like UT/OU has become a stronger rivalry where as A&M now needs to worry about Tech every year. A&M needs to get back on track so that UT can get a better BCS boost when they stop over the ags at the end of the regular season. POOR GAGGIES!
fran needs to go and i really hope it is within the next 2 weeks because he and stephen mcgee have a lovefest with eachother and the only way the program is gonna turnaround with the immense offensive talent it has is to start jarrard johnson!!!! The only way that happens is if a new coach comes in, i kinda like the idea of ty willingham brings a lot of fire and passion to the team
i'm hoping you are a UT fan hoping we'll get rid of his sorry ass, not an a&m fan who actually wants him.
a few more names... mike stoops (arizona), tommy bowden (clemson), houston nutt (arkansas), jim leavitt (university of south florida), jeff tedford (cal), rich brooks (kentucky)...
Just for kicks... "tommy tuberville (auburn)" I would take him in a heartbeat "ron prince (kstate)" Jury still out IMO. Wouldn't take the risk. "kirk ferentz (iowa)" Hell no. "larry coker (currently unemployed)" Pass, used goods. "ty wilingham (Washington)" Perfect fit. IMO having a black coach may be the only way TAMU could hope to out-recruit OU and UT. Gives them an edge. On top of that he is clearly one hell of a coach and stands for all the right things (unlike fran). Would also allow Washington to hook up with Mora. "mike stoops (arizona)" All name IMO. An annual Stoops vs Stoops game might be cute though. But not that cute... "tommy bowden (clemson)" I would thrilled but he would just leave for FSU someday. "houston nutt (arkansas)" Hell no. "jim leavitt (university of south florida)" Hell YES. He would recruit the hell out of this state and have a Wrecking Crew worthy D back in no time. "jeff tedford (cal)" I would pass. Good guy though. "rich brooks (kentucky)"He was almost fired last year. Owes his job to 3 NFL day 1 picks. Of whom he probably got lucky finding rather than recruiting well. So... Nah.
are you and ziggy as dissapointed or shall i say glad the mcgee is suckin it up so bad. my friends and i were sitting fourth row and could see how badly thrown every mcgee pass was, i mean i love the guys heart and guts but he plays like a running back. you all think its time to star jarrad(ive been since saying it since the season started) or at least run a 2 qb system. i feel like he could run the option better, escape the pocket better, pass better and throws to the best tight end in the nation martellus who is just simple being wasted away on the field.
I am disappointed in McGee, not glad. He has built up such a reputation that we are forced to live and die by him. If Fran benched him the school would erupt and Fran would seal his fate. Personally I would mix it up but its clear Fran won't. I don't think Johnson is necessarily good. I hope I am wrong. But I haven't seen anything to warrant "crowing" him. No way he runs the option better than McGee, Reggie McNeil didn't, speed isn't everything. Clearly Johnson is more comfortable passing downfield but probably isn't the answer... and I agree our use of Bennett is like putting 50$ tires on a Ferrari. He will be special at the next level.
I think a lot of those guys wouldn't take the job anyway. I don't think Texas A&M should fall all over themselves and try to pay big money for a name coach - ultimately it's not quite an attractive enough program to attract the top dogs like Saban or Urban Meyer-level candidate. Ultimately they'd hvae to settle for a guy like Fran who's good enough to command a big salary, yet ultimately not good enough. Yes I used ultimately three times inadvertently. I think they should try to find a young (or not so young) assistant who interviews well and could be a rising star. It's not like RC Slocum was a superduper hot commodity but he did plenty well.
actually talkin to a lot of my fellow peers esp ones that were big mcgee fans, they have really gotten tired of his play especially his inability to make the big play downfield and how he simply never gets it to martellus. A lot of them have been saying they want jarrad to start and i think the td play to martellus against miami were he scrambled and hit him downfield is a great preview of what he could do. They even said on espn that people were calling him the next vince young i just think that nothing good can really come out of this season so why not throw the kid in there to see that he can do or run the tebo/leak 2qb system
Thank God he doesn't write for the Chronicle anymore. Now he needs to be removed from Sports Talk radio and relegated to 950 AM where the rest of the motormouth clowns reside. A&M will axe Coach Fran after the season is over. They never do things like that during the season.
