Don't know about Sanchez, but it was a great decision for Bradford. He'll be a 1st round pick no matter what. And he'll avoid the 0-16 Detroit Lions. For a QB, the best career move seems to be to get picked in the middle of the first round - Big Ben, Flacco, Cutler, etc. When you're the #1 pick, you're going to a very bad team and your career may be over before it gets off the ground (Carr, Couch, etc). You lose out of some money upfront, but you give yourself a better chance to be a better QB over the long run. And he'll get paid tens of millions regardless.

No real major downside - you have injury risk, but there's insurance for that. And you get to live another year enjoying college. I think Vince probably looking back would like to have had that year back. I don't think Leinart has any regrets having stayed the extra year and ending up on Arizona instead of San Francisco.

... only to be snatched up by the 1-15 Lions or the 2-14 Rams in next year's draft? He may have rolled the dice to avoid Detroit, but unless he pulls a Matt Leinart, he'll be snatched up quickly by some struggling team in the next draft.

do only people i really want to leave come back to college? florida's whole basketball title team comes back, tebow comes back, bradford comes back even though he might go #1, leinart came back when possibly going #1 (although that worked out with a great Rose Bowl), and gresham? gresham? how much more NFL ready could that guy be?

edit: oh and of course vince did go pro. but i can't really blame him. and as much fun as it would have been winning another national title, watching vince toy with college players another year would have been kind of stupid. it would be like if albert pujols just decided to drop down to AAA for a year.

I'm not to suprised he's coming back...

I wonder if there has ever been a heisman ceramony with 2 heisman winners being among the finalist. I have no idea but I'm guessing no....

I'm shocked at mays out of usc coming back....

Stupid. His stock will not go up. OU will not win a title. Whats the point?
It'd be neat if Tebow gets Heisman next year. Bradford comes back and gets it the year following.

Whats going stop the Lions or whoever the worst team is next summer from drafting Bradford then? This is a bad move for Bradford, not only is he a Top 10 lock right now, but he's losing his entire OL and is likely to lose his 2 best receivers.

Insurance isn't going to pay the $50-$60 million dollars you left on the table. While I absolutely agree that you get another year enjoying college and all of that, an injury or even a mediocre season can cost tens of millions of dollars. Ask Leinart if he regrets passing on the $50M w/ $24 guaranteed Alex Smith got and he might have a different answer.

While Sanchez could use another year to raise his stock, he's going to benefit from Bradford staying. This QB class is really weak and he'll likely be the 2nd QB drafted unless he has a horrible showing at the combine/pro-day.

Man, unless Colt pulls away and wins the Heisman, we have a great chance of seeing a 2-time winner next year.

I'm interested to see how Bradford does now that 4/5 of his oline starters are gone. How effective will he be if the line is merely good, instead of great?

Maybe Sam should have asked Brian Brohm how coming back might turn out.

Seriously...he loses his entire OL (or 4/5) and his 3/4 Wr's.....

    .......

He's not going to improve his draft pos. and will stil be drafted by a poor team.

Ask Glenn Dorsey......better to sell high....

Ignorant decision by this kid -- I suspect he is going to regret it next year.

    Just a hunch.

Bradford may not feel mentally ready for the NFL. If so, I have no problem with his decision.

Sanchez does not impress me. By coincidence, I must have caught his worst performances on TV. I don't see him as a 1st round draft pick.

Sanchez improved dramatically from day 1 to the Rose Bowl. And he looked damn good at the Rose Bowl. Sanchez needs to stay. Bradford needs to get the hell out. Stoops must have pumped some BS into his brain. I bet Carroll was straight about the situation. Demote Stoops to Head of Recruiting already Jesus.

Gresham is staying as well which is a HUGE suprise. Supposedly Gresham's family is not wealthy and is in need of money, almost everyone thought he would declare (would have been the first TE off the board). I'd be interested in hearing what Stoops told both of those guys to have them forgo millions.

Well, the concern people have is that he might fall in next year's draft and would be giving up lots of money. If he goes #1 again, great - he got his full college experience and all the money. My point was that if he does fall, it's probably actually good for his career. It seems mid-1st rounders have more overall success than overall #1 picks as far as QB's go. It's too easy to get stuck on a horrible team for several years as the #1 overall pick.

Given that Leinart also signed a $50 million contract and is more likely to actually complete his contract and earn that money, he's probably pretty happy. Beyond that, he got to spend another year enjoying life as a kid, compete for a national title, and is now on a much better team where - if he performs - he'll be throwing to Fitzgerald and Boldin. That means he has a much better chance for next contract to be better than Alex Smith's. Smith may be just as good a QB, but because he got stuck in a mess with the 49ers, his career is not likely going anywhere anytime soon (assuming Warner actually retires at some point).

Won't happen. Heisman voters will protect Archie Griffin's prestigious honor of being the only Heisman winner in consecutive years. Texas will beat OU *AGAIN* at the Cotton Bowl and Colt will be in great position to win the Stiff Arm Trophy as he should have done this year.
