Seeing the thread on people's majors made me think about some college classes I would like to take some day - when I would take them, I have no idea.

My list includes the 2nd semester of Organic Chemistry, both semesters of Physical Chemistry (calculus-based), an intro to Psychology, Criminal Psychology, a U.S. Civil War History class, and a class on poetry specifically one that talks about guys like John Keats and Percy Shelley.

It is very doubtful that I ever take any of those classes but if I ever did have the time, I would try to take some of them.

So, what are some college courses you would like to take if you had the time and could go back to take them?

Astronomy. More anthropology courses (I was an anthropology minor but never got much fieldwork in). Film. Photography. I'm sure there are others.

Never thought I'd have to say this to you, Manny, but you are a sick and disturbed individual. I recommend psychiatric help. :(

Let's see... looking through our meager catalog...
    -Advanced Applied Music: Piano
    -Applied Music: Guitar
    -Sight-Singing and Ear Training
    -Music Theory
    -Instrumental Methods
    -History of Western Music
    -Vocal Pedagogy
    -Beginning Conducting
    -Teaching Children Music

    Otherwise...
-most of the Psychology courses look interesting.
    -Introduction to Sociology
    -Acting I
    -American Ethnic Literature
-Color Theory (Art dept; would try others except I'm not too good at trying to draw or sculpt something and making it come out like what it's supposed to be)

Meanwhile, if we were to start a thread about "Courses You Never Liked To Take And Never Thought You Would Have To Teach But Had To Anyway", both semesters of physical chemistry would be right up there at the top of my list. Calculus-based (supposedly).

You don't want to study Shelley, his poetry is smelly.
Keats, ok he had some skillz, but stick with a homey like John Donne if you want to keep it realz.

Why do ya say that? P Chem. is one of the best courses i have taken. It helps in any science field, and i actually use a lot of its principles when thinking about non-science stuff too. Its very math-intensive and rigourous but its also very rewarding, IMO. Fun fun. :)

Honestly I would like to take almost all the college courses I could except for the Math ones.

College courses are some of the greatest things this earth has to offer. I remember when I get to college and saw that the 'teachers' actually knew what they were talking about, and interested in the subject matter, I wondered why highschool wasn't like that. I couldn't help but imagine how much more I would have gotten out of highschool if the classes had been more like college classes.

more music - i did two years piano, 1 semester classical guitar and 1 semsester theory. id just like to take more various music classes and something like history of rock n' roll, jazz or west african music.

more history - my major, but i focused on u.s. history (especially civil war and wwII). i took some cool african history and european history, but i would like to take some eastern history courses. i never took any latin american history either, although that has been a subject of interest for me since i left school and ive done alot of reading on it as well as travel.

I'd like to take piano courses and golf courses (pun not intended).

Also, I think I'd like to take foreign languages, like Japanese, German, and French. But I might be wrong - I might not enjoy them as much as I think I would.

Donne is outstanding, no doubt, but do not disrespect PBS. You also have to consider the political implications of his work.

    Don't forget Rilke, either.

    Ahh...Donne.

There is a ton of background I'd need to really grasp the subject, but I'd love to get into String Theory.

Almost all of MIT's classes have the entire lecture notes posted for all to read on their website. It's a pretty cool project they did to make these available. Some of you guys could find a lot of the classes you've mentioned on here at their site. The site is www dot ocw dot mit dot edu.

    franchise...exactly...

    It's an amazing differences..

Before college you have teachers with TEACHING degrees.. not degrees in their fields....

the people teaching you bio in high school.. aren't biologists or anything

nice to be taught by people who have expertise in the field they are teaching...

that's not a knock against high school teachers, but they just normally don't have the level of expertise in the fields that they are teaching.. that a professor does..
