Almost that time. My blueribbon cbk yearbook arrives this week and i'm real excited about this year. Who are the best teams this year? Is memphis really a deserving #1 team in the country? My former coach John Thompson looks to have a lot returning to a final 4 Georgetown squad. Both ohio state and florida lost a ton so it looks like the there is no clear cut #1 team going into the season. Kevin Love and OJ Mayo could produce a nice rivalry in LA. Who are some of the other top freshman? How good will UT be after losing Durant? They still have a lot of talent that gained a lot of experience from seeing the floor last year as freshmen. I think they'll actually be better this year. Finally i think this is the year that UH finally makes it back to the NCAA tournament as a #10 seed. what are some of your predictions? Who are you excited to see play? Who could break out and be a top draft pick next year?
can't wait to see deandre jordan play here in college station with him and jo jones in the frontcourt they make a real nice twin tower defense. Those 2 along with the rest of our starting 5, josh carter(3 point specialist), domonique kirk(defense and cpt), and donald sloans athleticism should give us one of the best starting 5's in the nation. Only thing the worries me is our bench because its thin and the only real standouts our either freshman or sophmores.
Bryan Davis may start over Jordan. He is looking super. As for Turgeon... Great coach. But no Gillespie. Gillespie is top 3. Hall of fame for sure. Kentucky will be bringing home some titles. Unless he goes to the NBA.
He won't go to the NBA until we win a title. You have to understand the "godlike" status of a successful UK coach. OR the potentially successful UK coach. We had a sellout practice on Friday. Yes, sellout practice 23k people plus at Rupp Arena for Midnight Madness (I hate that its called Big Blue Madness now). Players at UK I am looking forward to seeing... Returning - Jodie Meeks, Derrick Jasper, Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley Frosh - Patrick Patterson and Alex Legion.
dont think there is anyway brian davis starts over deandre(by the way the dude is hilarious with shaq like game and ability) especially since he's supposed to be a top 10 pick in next years draft. I like davis as a solid back up comin off the bench with junior who reminds me of stromile swift, all the talent but no brains. Wonderin how bj holmes is gonna do coming off the bench i saw them practice last week and he looked a little sloppy. I think Turgeon is a great fit for the team kinda like moving from van gundy to adelman in the scence that Turgeon is a lot more loose and this team has some characters on the team but there gonna need to be diciplined. All in all i think we might get to the final 4 if the bench can step it up
You are probably right. It was more of me trying to make a bold statement. And we probably guaranteed Jordan the starting spot to get him in CS. But I don't know... I am sticking with Davis. He will surprise.
all i have to say that my bruins are poised this year to make a title run... I cant wait to see Kevin Love in action against Azusa Pacific nov 2...got some tickets to the game today
I love your UCLA team. Ill take em in in the national championship this year. Even wanted Afflalo on the Rockets. And Kevin Love is definitely going to be huge.
I was going to say that Kevin Love is probably the player I'm most looking forward to watching this year. Also curious about OJ Mayo, and, to a lesser extent, Chase Buddinger.
UT will be fairly good still, even without durant. they have one of the nation's top point guards in dj augustin running the team with a year of experience under his belt. they also have the #1 player from texas last year in damion james, also with a year under his belt. gary johnson is one of the new guys who was a 5 star recruit but he has a heart problem which may not let him play to his full potential. if he's able to play, UT would still be a pretty good team. i'm expecting UNC to be one of the better teams this year. they did lose brandan wright but tywon lawson, tyler hansbrough, and wayne ellington form a nice trio and they all have experience now. i'm excited to see what derrick rose can do @ memphis. he is one of the quickest guards i have seen and he is sure to be a great player in the NBA.
I've got my Lamar Cardinals winning the Southland. Lamar Sanders is Chuck Hayes version 2.0. Other than that, I haven't paid much attention.
Louisville wins Big East, Tennessee win SEC, Michigan State wins Big 10. Louisville ends up winning it all. Hallelujah Rick Patino. As for what's happening up here, Friday night is Midnight Madness. The team will conduct an open practice and fans will celebrate the upcoming season. Syracuse has 2 stud freshmen. One is a lock lottery pick for next year's draft. I don't expect the team to do that well though. They're awfully young and lost a lot of talent and senior leadership last year. They're on the bubble as far as the tournament is concerned, because they sure won't win the Big East with Louisville returning strong.
as much as i liked arron i think he has a lot of weakeness. one: his jumper is a bit suspect and he is a very streaky shooter..mainly because of his hitch shot two: cannot put the ball on the floor as much as he should, he was mainly a catch and shoot, post smaller guys player. three: mentally weak..yes he is despite what all the espn folks and all said about him. there have been countless games where if the defense got into his face early he would just shut down and not do anything (not just scoring). see the florida title game and the cal pac-10 tourney game last year for examples that were on nat tv. seen it happen at pauley alot but i am happy he got drafted to the pistons i think his strengths will be even more so needed on a team like that. i just hoped he didnt fall to the spurs because i thought he would be perfect on a team where he defense could be utilized and would have time to develop his shooting mechanics. really cant wait to see the love/collison combo. saw a few of love HS games and he is a beast. cait wait it will be awesome to say later on that I was at the first college game Love ever played in. even though 6 hours or so after the game i have to hop on a flight to houston for the portland game. but they have all the pieces to win it all this year provided health is on their side. chase steinbeck our other freshman is no slouch either. Josh Shipp has been tearing it up at the UCLA Men's Gym over the summer against NBA competition (a lot of NBA players play pick-up there over the summer..i think its where elton brand hurt himself). Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (love saying his name) looks to be fully healthy again this year with no pain in his knees which he had last year and is looking great from all of what I have heard. its going to be a fun year to watch thats for sure.
They have the #1 recruit in the nation, Michael Beasley. No offense to kState, but why did he go there?
Bob Huggins was coaching there and he's a recruiting machine. He bailed on them and went to his alma matter, West Virginia but Beasley decided to stay. It's probably a smart business move for him. He's on a nobody team so he can basically own the basketball.
I think Bill Walker and him both have first round NBA potential so I wouldn't say they are a team full of nobodies. I look for my Aggies to have another very good year probably on par with Texas for the 2-3 position in the Big XII with KU the clear favorite to take it all. Everyone is pretty young. A&M has a shot I believe if Josh Carter and JJ can both take on a stronger role.
Speaking of our Aggies... Apparently Kirk is the 1 and Sloan is the 2. Caught me by surprise at least. Also gonna mention KSU again. I expect them to be in the top 3 of the Big 12. Walker and Beasley are arguably both top 5 recruits. Beasley a top 3 without question. Walker a top 10 without question.
