Seriously, aside from about 20-30 isolated cold days in Texas last year, the weather was around the 70's most of the time. Well, it's mid-October now, and temperatures are still in the 90's just about every day. I even remember wearing shorts regularly in January. It froze only once last year in Austin. Growing up in the 80's and 90's, I remember having to bundle up regularly in December - February. I might have broken out my coat MAYBE once or twice all last winter.

Granted, I love the warm weather, which is one of the reasons that I go to school in Austin, but you expect at least a few cool days here or there. The high today here is 91F. Ridiculous. There's only summer and "not summer" now.

We have Summer and Fall in Houston. No Spring or Winter. There is supposed to be a "strong" front coming through today, but that's what they said 2 weeks ago and it didn't fall below 70, even at night.

This is the time when I start watching the weather report (not the band) religiously because I'm waiting for that first Arctic front to make it's way here and cool things off. But the weatherman always says a front is coming and it never does. I'll believe it when I see it.

To me, a "cold front" is supposed to drop the temps below 85. For some reason, most weathermen around here tend to disagree.

I hate the weather here. It never gets cold. While I do not miss Chicago winters, I do miss some real winter. I'd love to move.

    It's kind of like

    Winter: Fall
    Spring: Summer
    Summer: Holy sh*t, I can't stop sweating!!!
    Fall: Spring

Actually, we are right on average for this time of year. There have always been isolated years of warmer weather or colder weather during the winter, but the same goes for milder versus hotter summers. On the average, however, we are right at normal.

But Jeff, what kind of americans would we be if we didn't react based on the smallest most recent sample of information? (Summer of the Shark anyone?)

In LA they have seasons, but Winter isn't as much about cold temperatures as it is about rain.

It almost never rains during the Summer at all.

I was with a third grade class one day when it started raining, and a little girl said, "Oh no! Is it Winter already?"

i was just gonna say that.

and i think we all lost the right to complain when it snowed on Christmas Eve a couple of years back! :D that should last us a while. if i remember right, that whole winter was colder than the average houston winter.

I missed when Houston looked like this. Damn global warming and it's all clearly Bush's fault.

I'm still bitter about that. Left Houston for the Hill Country 2 days before. Snow in Houston, 50 & sunny at the ranch. My aunt & uncle from up there went down to her family's in Palacios, they were building snowmen on the beach, I'm wearing shorts & flip-flops. Left 2 days after Christmas for Poland, and they have the mildest winter in years, only saw snow up in the mountains down by Czech Rep.

I actually like the weather here in Houston for the last week or so. It was rather nice.. not too hot, with a cool breeze.

Now, if this only happens when it's supposed to.

Worst time of the year ever. Still warm enough for the pool to tease me, water too cool to get in and enjoy.

    Cold blows.

To be fair, it wasn't really snow on Christmas Eve 04, it was kind of a snow/hail hybrid (at least where I live). It was still nice to see. A mild winter has been predicted for this year. I hope they're wrong.
