    From the AP

    AMERICANS STASH AWAY BILLIONS
By design or neglect, Americans have stashed away loose change to the tune of an estimated $7.7 billion. An estimated 56 percent of Americans build up their change rather than spend it day to day. As many as 77 percent have a jar of coins around the house, worth an average $30 to $50.

According to a spokesman for the American Numismatic Association, change is something people like to have, but it also becomes a nuisance because of its weight. In fact, it often ends up in the trash.

A Stamford archaeology professor conducted a study of a Massachusetts incinerator found that the million people it served were leaving about $8,000 worth of coins in their garbage every day.

For every dollar it counts in change, it takes about 10 cents for itself.

When we were little kids, some friends and I used to go to do-it-yourself car washes and look for money in the vacuum cleaners. Then they wised up and put locks on 'em.

geez...i think it costs $.07...so assume you have $30.00 in change...that's $2.10...how much does the little gadget that rolls your coins cost?? $20?? no..i'll stick with coinstar...it's worth the $.07/dollar to just toss coins into a cup and throw it at coinstar every once in a while.
