He does this hour at like 10 am with some guy I've never heard of. That was probably what got Sumlin mad. It was during that hour on Tuesday I think that Lopez was talking about Sumlin leaving. On a different note, I seriously wonder if there is anyone out there who has positive things to say about John Lopez on the radio.
It's gotta piss Sumlin off that if SMU wins this weekend they can't win Conference USA after the exciting season they've had. Sumlin won't be around long.
I was shocked to hear it, good to see that Lopez was confronted. Typical BS replies by Lopez. Man I hate that guy, he should never be allowed on the radio. He is so bad man, can't even interview properly. Ridiculous.
Coaches come on the shows and get pissed if you kiss their arses. One thing i cant stand about the Kubiak Show is that Patrick is so strict on the calls he lets through to the air, if you have ANYTHING to say negative about the Coach/Texans you will be gone before the words ever get on air. Sumlin should get used to this kind of speculation, with the success he is having and his ties to major program coaches, he is a prime candidate to hit the road for some $$$$$ in the near future.
Lopez came on either last week or early this week saying he plays golf with someone in the know that says Stoops is leaving for Notre Dame and Sumlin will take the OU job.
Sounded like much ado about nothing. I understand the position from both sides. Sumlin doesn't want to speculate as it affects recruiting. It's Lopez's job (albeit typically done in a poor fashion) to write opinion pieces.
I'm sicking of Lopez bragging about coaching AAU basketball... Whoop de dooo... You impressed a bunch of high school kids enough about your job writing for a newspaper and your contacts from that job and that made them want to play basketball for you. It doesn't mean you know how to coach basketball....

wow...that's a bit more than just speculating...that's asserting fact, not saying, "my best guess is...." need to be a little bit more careful with the reliability of your sources.
He is actually a damn good AAU coach and Basketball Coach in general. Do you keep up with AAU? Have you ever watched the man coach? If you dont like the guy as a Radio Personality and Writer then thats fine but dont attack things that you have no clue about.
Yes, I work for a Police Agency around here but I also coach JV at a High School south of Houston. I, myself played AAU growing up and now am getting my athletes at the JV and Varsity into it during the summer, as I think it is the best way to improve skills over the summer break. Better than the small school leagues set up for summer ball. JL has been doing it since I was a player and have played against his teams on several occations. The man is an offensive Guro and might have some of the best Full Court Press options in the state of Texas. He can literally run a different style press at you everytime you inbound a ball, making it very difficult to get a rythem. He is also good friends with Coach Gillespie and uses the same defensive philosophy.
