With Yao and T-mac who both don't look like "motion" guys, should we really be talking about trading them? Why shouldn't we change the coach? Adelman is a great guy. I like his attitude. But it just seems like we are trying to fit the round team into a square philosophy.

hopefully before tmac and yao past their primes.

The thing is, we shouldn't be having to "wait" as fans. This team is ready to win now...not to build and develop.

The offensively talented McGrady adjusted to JVG's defensive style and slowed-down offense when he was here. I'm sure he can adjust to Adelman's system as well eventually.

this just in...the offense is/was "slowed down" because they dont run well.

Agreed. We hired the wrong coach. Your square peg, round hole analogy is accurate. I think most of us knew that the Sactown offense would have to be modified to fit the talents of our players and most everyone believed Adelman could do that. Oh well.

before the season started, most ppl here thought that coach A's system would help tmac's offense, and yao could have problems adjusting/buying ...

I distinctly remember that Doc Rivers was said to have run a motion offense in Orlando-- back when McGrady was winning socring titles and stuff.

In any case... I don't think the real issue is whether McGrady and Yao "fit" into a motion offense. The team's offense level has simply been inconsistent all year, and that's not McGrady and Yao only, but other guys on the team, too. Recently, there seems to be signs that the team has been improving offensively as a more consistent rotation is figured out and guys-- including Yao and McGrady, but also Scola, Head, Rafer, Bonzi, etc, get more used to things. These guys can be very good within the offense and, at times, have been very good.

There is apparently an issue with McGrady not being "happy"-- whatever that means-- in the offense. It seems to be a matter of him being used to how Jeff ran things in the past and naturally felt inclined to resort to it especially when frustrated with losing.

Personally, I'm optimistic that his "unhappiness" will pass once the team demonstrates the new system can succeed and they can win.

btw Yao runs up and down the court just fine...

We don't have individual players like franchise anymore....

The whole team dictates the whole team, when everyone runs - everyone runs!

Even with a mayor change Adelman offense is nothing like PHX offense. two completely different philosophy. Phx offense sucks without Nash. Adalman is a motion offense not a run and gun offense.

I agree. This team has too much talent to cater to a coach with no rings. He needs strategize solely based around our two superstars. He is trying, but IMO he has the concept all wrong. He is only now realizing Yao needs to be in the low post 90% of the time? C'mon...

Genius? There are two kinds of geniuses. The ones with rings. And the ones with no rings...

Everyone has "adjusted" fine except McLady. You know, the guy who hasn't won anything in his 11th year in the league.

And in case some didn't know, Sacramento isn't the only place Adelman has coached.

Adjusted to what? I don't see any major change in the offense. Any time the offense works is when they execute the old inside/out offense and the shooters are hitting their shots.

mcgrady doesn't move without the ball enough. LIke another posted said in another thread, he tends to stand around if the play isn't for him, or he'll half ass some movement. He needs to move fast and often without the ball like bonzi and luther. He rarely cuts and some of that is on adelman as well.

and stop jacking threes so often. those are momentum killers when he misses (which is most of the time).

I agree...and Rick Adelman doesn't have any rings. If he keeps coaching this team like he is doing, then he won't ever be considered a genius again.

Adelman is proving that he can't evaluate and determine how to best use the talent on this team. His most obvious example of this is still sticking with the same starting lineup barring injury!

There is nothing about this season, and I mean NOTHING!, that makes me angrier than this. Even his chucking up ill-advised 3 point shots. Tracy is too lazy and lackadaisical to even act like a decoy when the play isn't for him. He just stands 5 feet behind the 3 point line and takes a smoke break.
