Larry Brown would have to be at the top of the list.

Probably Larry Brown...but the Hornets have played well also. Paul Silas is their coach isn't he?

    Who else...hmmmm...Rick Adlemen?

    What about Adelman?

Not Dunleavy. Portland is just repeating last year results and has Kemp and Davis. I don't think 'Sheed's great year can be attributed to Dunleavy.

Adelman has the Kings playing well, but 16 of their 36 games have been against the East (11-5).

It's a tossup between Rudy T and Larry Brown. It would be Rudy solo, but Brown has also had to deal with major injuries (Snow, Geiger).

My vote would go to Larry Brown. He's had to put up with injuries throughout that team and has Iverson playing more team ball (which for him is cutting his shots down to 25 per game). Dunleavy should never win that award with all the talent he has at his disposal. If anything he and Phil should win championships. If they don't, it just means they're not as great as some make them out to be.

Brown, hands down. It took time, but the team has finally bought his defense first mentality and is playing with a lot of heart.

He even managed to settle his feud with Iverson. (for now, that is).

How could you seeriously consider Rudy T?
Look, I really like him, and no coach works harder on the court, but his lineups this year have been pure lunacy. And, the Rockets are 20-20, with losses to the Nuggets, Clippers, Celtics and Warriors. Rudy is also a big reason that Hakeem is pissed, as he hasn't gotten him properly involved in games this year. Unless the Rockets finish 50-32 this year, maybe I will change my mind. The Rockets are just not good enough for the talent they have had, even with the injuries.

my vote is with the king's coach (almost positive its adelman, but i dont remember exactly)
george karl isn't doing too bad either, if the bucks can keep it up. he's taken a bunch of no defense sissies and got this team turned around. they're 3rd in the east, with essentially the same team that was 41-41 last year.

If the Kings continue to play this way all year I give my vote to Adleman.

    But wait there is another...

Has everyone forgotten Don Nelson? The Mavs have been the dung heep of the NBA for over a decade now. Only the Clippers have been worse. Now they look like a lock for the playoffs and are on course to win 52 games.

Larry Brown, gets way to much credit for playing in the watered down east. Give me a coach that puts those type of numbers up against the best on a night in night out basis.

I think Rudy T, has done a good job over all with all the injuries. However, he looses points with his handling of Hakeem. And what was with starting KT on Shaq last night? I know KT is a better ball player than Collier but at least Collier offers a true 7' 290 lb body to lean on Shaq. Certainly all 6'7" of KT had no chance. Rudy continues to loose points.

At the time of the Nuggets loss, the Rockets were 13-9 and much better than the Nuggets. There is no excuse for losing a home game against one of the worst road teams to end a 4 game winning streak. I'm sorry, but the Nuggets have had the easiest schedule in the NBA. Yes, they are playing well NOW, but they weren't doing that in the second meeting.

Adelman definitely should be on that list along with Nellie and Dunleavy, but, if Rudy gets the Rockets into the playoffs, there is no reason to think he won't be up there as well.

You have to measure success vs. expectations. Adelman has one of the best players in the league. Brown too AND he is in the East which is like an automatic gimme of about 25 games. Dunleavy has too much talent not to win.

Nellie and Rudy T. are kinda in the same boat. Nellie has more depth and has had fewer injuries. Another potential candidate is, surprise surprise, Dan Issel. Since the near self-destruction of the team, they've been kickin' ass. If any of those three manage to get their teams into the playoffs, they might all deserve it.

A couple of sleepers to watch include Pat Riley and Flip Saunders. How Riley is getting Miami to succeed despite the loss of Mourning is pretty amazing even for a guy in the Eastern Conference. And, Saunders has held his team together despite the death of Malik Sealy, the loss of Joe Smith and the suspension of Kevin McHale and their owner.

You just watch, we will be back buddy.

We have been missing pretty much all of our big man.

In the end i think it will be Rockets #8 and the Nuggets #10, T-Wolves #9
