Coach may not be wrong when he doesn’t blame himself in some situations. If you tell a player to do something and he doesn’t do it, then who is at fault?

I swear I caught it and cracked up at how he muffled his words exactly in that moment.

But I'm proud of him. Baby steps.

Also he had some great tactical decisions this game in the second attempt to fuel the turnaround.

Ime did not have his best game and should definitely blame himself for the terrible performance.

Sitting his best player for almost the entire fourth quarter as our offense struggled was just idiocy.

Jabari was playing great so I understand why he kept him in but Sengun could have subbed in much earlier and we would have dominated the paint. Sengun was the difference maker in overtime.

Not playing Whitmore was also stupid when so many other guys were injured, exhausted or fouled out.

I'm glad we won but it's shameful that 76ers team took us to overtime. They only played one actual NBA rotation player. Lots of shame to share on the Rockets. Nice to see Jabari step up though. Tari was also really good until his sad ending.

To be fair, that "one actual NBA rotation player", at least for that night (and honestly over his last 9 games), was playing like a legitimate superstar-caliber shooting guard. Dude dropped an efficient 46 and 13 on us and just could not miss, until we finally took him seriously late in the game and started trapping him--and even then his shots were this close to going in.

No way Philly takes us to overtime if Grimes isn't playing like Ant Edwards having a good night.

Depends. Would the player have done it if another coach told him the same thing? If that is the case, then yeah, it's the coach's fault for not connecting enough with the player to listen to instructions.

    This.

Somebody needs to put Ime and Cam into couples therapy and work on some things. It's getting awkward.

Ime Udoka at the beginning of the season made a comment critical of his coaching in a press conference.

So this is the second time this season that I am aware of.

People's fascination with this is weird.

The players don't sub themselves out you know. It's not shameful that some players continue to force Ime's hand by not defending, turning the ball over, not rebounding, not scoring, blowing assignments, etc...? I mean, if you're a player why wouldn't you try to never be subbed out each and every time you're on the court? Enough with the excuses for these guys, they aren't rookies anymore. They know the deal and most good players seem perfectly content with those "rules."

My guess is Ime and the coaching staff didn't gameplan for this game thinking it wasn't necessary. They probably knew how hot Grimes has been lately but they didn't put any emphasis to lock him down like they would a star player on a better team and in hindsight realized that was a mistake. Luckily they started trapping him and getting the ball out of his hands in OT. Hopefully he realizes not to take any opposing team and player for granted.

That was not self criticism I influenced him to say that telepathically and he is not sure why today he said it.

This is the way I read it as well. The coaches didn't do the normal volume of prep.

There’s something about professional sports coaching that attracts narcissists. When coaches do the whole “that’s on me bit” in press conferences to me I always roll my eyes because I know they aren’t genuine. I honestly like that Ime sort of wears his persona on his sleeve and doesn’t try to fake it that he’s not kind of a dick.

Udoka was a player - a role player that struggled to stay in the league and was very aware of his limitations and his role on teams. It is the same with coaching - he knows the limits of coaching, he knows it comes down to the players and how well they execute and how hard they compete.

I know some have criticized Udoka for not shouldering more of the blame - but if you pay attention, he doesn't take the praise either. The reason being that he knows he isn't the one on the floor competing.

Part of the reason that he is so well respected by players around the league is that he understands the boundaries or coaching and also being a player.

Sixers made 14 threes in the first quarter alone. While you can blame Rox for not being prepared, the Sixers clearly werent playing like a bunch of castoffs.

I heard that as : "I'm doing pretty good, but I need to do better because obviously these kids are idiots".
