http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050715/ap_on_re_us/young_player_hurt I am utterly speechless. Please cue the "the world is going to hell" thread title again. I don't know what this "Coach" can be sentenced to, but I hope it's as severe as possible....
T-ball That's one sorry dude! Imagine....all this for bragging rights and the community r-e-s-p-e-c-t that everyone naturally bestows on the coach of the T-ball champs!
He never heard this... "I believe the children are our are future Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside Give them a sense of pride to make it easier Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be Everybody searching for a hero People need someone to look up to I never found anyone to fulfill my needs A lonely place to be So I learned to depend on me Chorus: I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone’s shadows If I fail, if I succeed At least I live as I believe No matter what they take from me They can’t take away my dignity Because the greatest love of all Is happening to me I found the greatest love of all Inside of me The greatest love of all Is easy to achieve Learning to love yourself It is the greatest love of all I believe the children are our future Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside Give them a sense of pride to make it easier Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be Chorus And if by chance, that special place That you’ve been dreaming of Leads you to a lonely place Find your strength in love"
It's funny how people ignore the words "alleged" or "accused" in the media so easily. What happens if he really didn't do it? The other kid could have been pressure by a parent to lie.
I coached a 11-12 year olds basketball team this year. In the championship game the opposing team only had 6 players show up (normally 10 on a team) ironically the 4 that didnt show up were his "not so good" players. In our league you must alternate your players at every 5 minute interval so everyone plays equally. We found out later that he had called them and told those 4 that the game time was changed to later in the day so they would miss the game. We lost by 1 point (to a team we beat by 20 twice) but later he was asked not to coach again once the league found out from the parents of those kids. This guy even had the class to "forget" to call the 4 kids for his teams banquet and trophy presentation. Stuff like this happens for the sake of "winning" all the time
I wonder what the mlb scouts at the game thought of the incident.... "beamed kid in head with baseball...but accurate throw, good velocity...listens to the coach...takes direction well... play well in contract years. " "kid can take a beating...biggio type...the way he leaned into the thrown ball...possible lead off hitter... Tim hudson is going to teach him curveball..."
And the parents are the driving force behind **** like this 99% of the time. It's sad, sick and pathetic, the win-at-all-costs mentality so many have, and the parents are the sole reason I won't coach Little League ever again.
Jesus Christ! When I played T-ball, the score went back to 0-0 after every inning, nobody won or lost, and EVERYBODY got sno-cones at the end. But I guess that didn't sufficiently teach us that winning is all that matters.
I know, and then they get all pissed off when someone is found innocent. I remember there was thread about the comedian Anthony Johnson when he was accused of rape. Everyone had that guy going to jail and being stupid for ruining his career, well it turns out those charges were false. And no one brought the thread back up after the truth came out.
Fair enough....then IF he's convicted, and if this is true, it's dispicable. If someone made these charges up, then they deserve just as much grief and punishment for totally slandering a man, and destroying his reputation. As evidenced by my post and the court of popular opinion, judgements are often already made before the justice system gets their turn, and often the retractions and apologies aren't voiced loud enough.
