    I couldn't believe this! I went to CNNsi's basketball site at: http://cnnsi.com/basketball/index.html
and found NOTHING about the Rockets!. I mean zero. zip. zilch. nada.

The only thing close is the 'Charles Barkley's Outrageous Career' link on the bottom right, but since that spans multiple teams, I exclude it.

Its happens alot to the Rockets.
If you go to http://www.nbatalk.com and look at there rookie watch section they rate elton brand better the Steve Francis! And yes this is even after the performances he has had over the last 5 games!!!

I find if your team isnt in LA,New York or Chicago you dont get the coverage you should...Unless a former NBA player from one of thoes cities join your teams managment [IMG]

    CMAN,

That's why I stopped patronizing that site! Haven't posted on their message board in quite a while.

Uhhh, the Rockets are 15-24... They should get national attention why exactly?

Who cares about the Philadelphia Flyers, the Ohio State basketball team, nearly every team in the playoffs this year, or anybody else that gets any coverage for that matter?

If you're watching a national sports show, you shouldn't be looking for a 30 minute synopsis of Anderson's game last night, or Francis' alley-oop to himself.

However, it would be nice to hear Francis mentioned as much as Brand or Odom, which I believe he is not, despite being better than the two, IMO.

I think we as Rockets fans are a little weary about the national media since our SI snub in 1994. However, NBC seems to like us since they're putting our games against the Nets and the Bulls on their coverage.

Is it any coincidence that we are the only team mentioned in the national anthem?

    I didn't think so!

Probably very few people... But most of the major stories have a good reason behind them (a subplot, big game, major incident, etc). The other synopsis stories are just picked at random... They can't cover every single story, so why should they pick the Rockets vs. Nuggets over the Flyers or OSU basketball team? The fact that they picked OSU isn't a snub to the Rockets... Just like if they picked the Rockets, it wouldn't be a snub to OSU.

(By the way, the examples you provided were both matchups of top ranked teams -- they were big games and that's why they got the coverage. Denver v. Houston does not fit in that category)

    Agreed.

However, it would be nice to hear Francis mentioned as much as Brand or Odom, which I believe he is not, despite being better than the two, IMO.

I'd actually like the get through one game without announcers comparing Francis to MJ, or mentioning that the last rookie to lead the league in assists and scoring was MJ. Francis is, I believe, the only player picked for 3 separate All-Star events (2ball, Dunk, and Rookie game). I think he gets plenty of attention....

I think we as Rockets fans are a little weary about the national media since our SI snub in 1994. However, NBC seems to like us since they're putting our games against the Nets and the Bulls on their coverage.

We've gotten plenty of national TV games over the past 3 years and we've absolutely sucked. I wouldn't mind us disappearing into the background for a while, winning, and then grabbing attention *by being a good team* rather than because we have a big-name rookie or a bunch of aging superstars.

    Just my opinion.... [IMG]

The exact reason they should get some coverage is because they are on a five game winning streak. That should at least be noted.

They should get national attention for that same reason the Clippers have been getting it: For having a sensational rookie. Bad records haven't stopped the national media from harping on Lamar Odom and Brand.

They *do* get attention for having a sensational rookie. The Clippers don't get mentioned on CNN/SI either, at least not for winning.

As for the 5 game win streak, the last two wins were good, but the first 3 were against the worst teams in the NBA... That's not anything that will get national attention, nor does it deserve it. We'll get the attention when we do something that deserves attention....

Besides, who cares? Why do you care if someone halfway across the country that you've never met reads about the Rockets when they look at CNN/SI? If they are a basketball fan, they'll hear the big stories eventually. If not, then they won't care anyway..
