I just had to bring this up because they've never been this high since I was a Rockets fan.

    Power Rankings

At first, I thought they were way too high, but I've managed to rationalize a place for them at 6th. Hey, they have the 3 Western teams that are clearly better than us up there and we have beaten every high-ranking Eastern team except Indiana.

Now if we can sweep the home-and-home against the Spurs I'll b**** about them still being above us next week.

Thoughts? Anyone else think we deserve 6th?

i really like the line for portland: "With the Rockets, Spurs and Lakers on tap this week, they are facing a brutal stretch."

it's excellent being grouped together with the lakers & spurs like that!

How are the Rockets ranked behind the Spurs? That shouldn't happen until they blow both games against them later this week.

6th? Hmm. Not at the moment. Bright flashes are one thing, consistent execution is quite another.

The Rockets defense puts them in 6th.

To be where we are after that brutal 6-game roadtrip, we definitely deserve 6th spot.

It will be difficult beatin the Spurs since Parker and Ginobili play with such poise, however, if we actually pull it off and sweeo the rest of this homestand, then we're in great shape to take 6th seed and maybe even snatch 5th seed if Minny keep slipping.

I guess that means the rest of the league is much more consistent huh ?

Utah getting their butts kicked by Boston at home was brilliant execution on their part...San Antonio's 10 losses are quite consistent...Portland's 0-6 record on the road is consistent too...

I suggest people start actually analyzing what other teams are doing. Then you can compare where you think we rank...

Dan, I agree with you fully. I believe our team is fundamentally poised to take a top 4 spot. I said it back then and I still cannot see why I should change that. The Wolves are like us and will start putting together a nice little run. I believe the Kings have not as good as their record thanks to an easy schefule.

Frankly i think LA, Dallas and Sacramento (which blew us out quite badly) are above the rest in the West. In the East, the Pacers are the only ones who can challenge the West, and even them i'm not sure of...

I don't see any other team better then us at this point. Sure we can lose on any given night against a team like Portland, but it's not like they dominated us...we'll see tonight how they do against us, in our place...

You know, I think DearRock is right. Sacramento and the Lakers do have an easier schedule.

Unfortunately, that's because they are better than all of the teams they face. :(

DAN, I just cannot see the reason for placing Dallas and the Kings in that Heads and Shoulders category. The Kings have had an easier schedule having only played 6 road games and allowing opponents to shoot 48%. I respect both teams as offensive teams but I fancy we will become a better passing team, making us a better offensive team, before they become low post dominant teams on both sides of the ball, like we are.

If you saw the Kings vs Rockets game, you have to think that the Kings are at least head and shoulders above the Rockets.

I saw the Kings vs Rockets game and I saw the two preseason games too. When the Kings beat us on the road at a time when we struggled offensively against various teams, I am not in a hurry to put them heads and shoulders above us. There are some truths that we cannot deny. If Ming handles Ben and Co like he did then I know Mr. Miller will suffer greatly. We are a different and evolving team today and that process will, sooner rather than later, establish that they have nothing over us. In fact the Kings have no right with 5 losses if you consider their schedule to date ranks 28th in the league.

Sacramento are definitely head, shoulders, waist and feet above us.

Damn, they're playing that well WITHOUT their best player. Yeah, remember him?

I can't believe we're still stuck on the preseason.

I can maybe buy into sneakign into 4th spot, however, saying that the Kings aren't hella better than us, that's kinda pushin it IMO.

I mean, they were without Bobby Jackson for a while, been without Webber this whole time, and have been playing Divac and Miller HEAVY minutes. Let's not forget that Miller is brand new to them, yet he is averaging 5.3 assists per game.

The key will be MoT's work on Duncan as well. This is a big early test for the Rocks.

How about the Griz, Nugs and Jazz? It's early, real early!
