HOUSTON Key additions/retentions: Stromile Swift Swift is clueless at times, but there's no denying he's a physical talent. Stuck behind Pau Gasol in Memphis, he nevertheless put up good numbers for how few minutes he played. He could end up being the steal of the free-agent market, giving Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady the athletic power forward they so badly need. At mid-level money, he is certainly worth the risk http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/marty_burns/08/03/winners.losers/2.html
According to Alex Labidou, the rox are doing fine in the offseason http://www.***************/article_13646.shtml "While this off-season has been disappointing for the most part, I will give credit where it is due. Kudos to the Spurs, Knicks, Rockets, Bucks, Heat, Sixers, Cavs, and Nets for actually caring about your fans and making moves that will significantly improve your teams. The other teams, get cracking or else fall into insignificance." Go CD!
Everyone seems pretty high on Swift. I think he does appear to fit well into our team but what do you really expect from him? What numbers would he have to put up for him not to be disappointing? I would say 15pt 9reb and 2 blocks would be good --- rebounds over 10 would be great
my realistic expectations have him at 10pts/10rebs/2blks I would be happy.. any more points is just gravy as long as he has a high FG% J
Do you guys realize that only 5-6 players in the LEAGUE average 10 rpg or more? I can guarantee you none of those players had to split time with another player of similar skill level. Depending on whether Swift starts or comes off the bench, he could average anywhere from 8-14 ppg and 4-8 rpg. If Stro' can get 8 rpg while sharing minutes with Howard, I would be ecstatic.
agree with you more or less, 13-8 plus 2.0 tap outs a game. His minutes should go up alot cause he can play both 4 and 5.
If you extend the 10/5/1+ in 21MPG to 35-40 MPG he should be a 20/10/2 guy easily as long as no one else is playing. How he fits in with TMac and Yao will be the key.
I agree. He should easily average 20/10 if no one else is on the court. Against the KGs and Amares and Duncans of the world though... Just sayin that those of you who are expecting a double double out of him are just setting him up to fail.
he has played against KG and duncan already since he is in the same divison as duncan. and has been since he was drafted.
when you look at his career numbers of 10 ppg and 5 rpg in about 21 min a game, you can project that out to about 14-15 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2 bpg in around 35 min a game. that's what we should expect from him assuming he gets around 35 min a game and he should playing PF and a little C. have to remember he's playing with tmac who will get him a couple of easy dunks a game too.
I meant no one on our side. There are just so many touches to go around and unless Yao becomes 3rd scorer I don't see SS having enough putbacks to score 20. We'll see. I am not worried about the KGs and Amares and Duncans stopping SS because they will be busy with Yao.
Of course when he was playing 20 minutes a game, much of that would be against second stringers. Double the minutes will not mean double the stats.
