An Airbus 310 like the one pictured has crashed while on the way to the capital of Comoros. An Airbus 310 like the one pictured has crashed while on the way to the capital of Comoros. The aircraft, from the national airline Yemenia, was en route to Comoros when it crashed about an hour from its destination, an airline official said. There was no immediate news of the fate of those on board. The Airbus A310 was en route from Yemen's capital Sanaa to Moroni, the capital of Comoros, and most of the passengers were Comoran, an official at Sanaa's international airport said. Moroni is about 2,900 kilometers (1,800 miles) south of Yemen, off the east coast of Africa. "We don't know if there are any survivors among the 150 people on the plane," Comoros Vice President Idi Nadhoim told Reuters.
All these crashes makes you not want to fly anywhere. My prayers goes out to all of the families that have lost loved ones.
Wake me up whenever I can read the news and actually read something GOOD happening in the world. Anyway, being the aviation enthusiast that I am this is definitely troubling to hear. It's still early but this sounds like pilot error to me. The plane was flying into heavy wilds but pilots are trained to deal with these type of scenarios. I read one report suggesting this crash may have happened after an aborted landing attempt which definitely could have been the case. Probably something like this: If this aborted landing attempt rumor is true the plane probably encountered a heavy crosswind and may have never regained control after the failed landing attempt. This definitely could have been the case considering the crash site's close proximity to the airport. I'm just speculating, though.
