Americans Now See the Truth of Complete Obama Failure

Washington (CNN) -- Nearly three out of four Americans think that at least half of the money spent in the federal stimulus plan has been wasted, according to a new national poll.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Monday morning also indicates that 63 percent of the public thinks that projects in the plan were included for purely political reasons and will have no economic benefit, with 36 percent saying those projects will benefit the economy.

Twenty-one percent of people questioned in the poll say nearly all the money in the stimulus has been wasted, with 24 percent feeling that most money has been wasted and an additional 29 percent saying that about half has been wasted. Twenty-one percent say only a little has been wasted and 4 percent think that no stimulus dollars have been wasted.

"One reason why the economic stimulus bill is no longer popular with the American public is the perception that a lot of the money has been wasted. Six in 10 believe that the projects in the stimulus bill were included for purely political reasons," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

"Nearly three-quarters believe that at least half the stimulus money spent so far has been wasted, and one in five say nearly all of it has been a waste," Holland said.

According to a CNN poll released Sunday, 56 percent of the public opposes the stimulus, with 42 percent supportive of the plan. Last March, just weeks after the stimulus bill was signed into law by President Obama, a CNN survey indicated that 54 percent supported the program, with 44 percent opposed.

The program, formally known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, attempts to stimulate the country's economy by increasing federal spending and cutting taxes at a total cost to the government of $787 billion. No Republicans in the House of Representatives and only three in the Senate voted in favor of the bill.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted January 8-10, with 1,021 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser contributed to this report.

Why would the public be in any position to know whether or not the stimulus money was wasted?

none of these statistics suggest that Americans now view Obama as a complete failure. The highest percentage of any topic is 63%. That is not 'complete'

    polls suck anyway.

I'm an Obama voter and I think that projects were included in the plan for purely political reasons. Like the 46% of it that went to tax cuts.

I'd fall into the 29% that thinks about half of it was wasted -- again the half on tax cuts.

They shouldn't have bothered with sops to the GOP in the stimulus. We could have shaved 300 million of the cost if we hadn't put in tax cuts that did nothing to stimulate the economy.

Why do you do that? Add a title that is not listed in the article. Do you enjoy people taking shots at you all the time. I don't think Obama has done anything significant in his office and I have never been a supporter of his, but they way you present you material makes you lose all credibility.

It must suck to have no interface with reality.

Where most of us live, on Earth, he is neither a hero nor a sham, just a dude doing some good things and doing some bad things as he takes on a difficult job in a difficult time.

But pretending your fell enemies, the lazy liberal socialists, the root of all that is bad and wrong, are also worshipping Obama must help you simplify your world view even further.

it's kind of like a black hole. Your view is so dense that it's collapsed to a single point. In this case your posts are just little occasional spurts of random Hawking radiation, relevant only to measuring your temperature and entropy.

What sucks is voting for Obama with my eyes wide open, praying that the GOP comes to its' senses, only to watch them consistently succumb to the most insane extremist element of their party time and time again. I'd love it if there were an actual conservative running. But there isn't, and there won't be. 'Till then I'll take the ones who actually have some plan for running the government. It beats voting for people who promise to shrink it and then add more layers.

I do not regret my vote for Obama. McCain and Palin would have destroyed this country. I don't think they would have done anything differently wrt the bailout and stimulus, and I suspect they would have "liberated" Iran on top of it. No thanks.

For some reason I find black holes very interesting. Shovel face isn't as interesting but interesting in for the reasons you mentioned in your post.

Though sadly a lot of the interesting part leaves should he turn out to be a fictional character much like TJ was. I say the odds are even that he is somebody's created persona for them to play like they are Colbert.

The problem is the public can't even begin to understand even basic economic theory.

It's true, and the administration has not done a good job communicating the stim. package.

AND they spent a boatload on future economic health types of things (like pouring money into more basic scientific research.)
