Armstrong said Cheney turned to shoot a bird and accidentally hit Whittington. She said Whittington was taken to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Cheney's spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said the vice president was with Whittington, a lawyer from Austin, Texas, and his wife at the hospital on Sunday afternoon.
Remember when Cheney and Scalia went hunting together? I wonder if any other justices will go. I bet some folks are trying to set up a Ginsburg and Cheney hunting trip now.
No it didn't take long at all. I had a bunch of other jests I was going to make too, but thought better of it. Sometimes it is best to try and find the humor in tragic situations, especially when they came from such a boneheaded move.

You liberals should know better. Conservatives have NEVER made fun of tragic accidents involving liberals. I mean, you will NEVER hear a conservative make a joke or ad hominem attack on Ted Kennedy's car crash. Personally, I liked it a lot better when Cheney just said "Go F(*# yourself" when he was upset at you. That old fogie is getting cranky.

No, you are blinded by your inability to see the target of the joke. The target of the joke was not the person who got shot. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope is able to fully recover from this accident. The target of the joke was Conservatives who want a conservative supreme court. It was a silly joke, and isn't worth talking that much about. But it wasn't a joke made the expense of the victim in this act. Please quit trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Didn't Ann Coulter get raked over the coals for a similar "joke" about poisoning one of the justices? Huh. Interesting.
I actually defended Ann Coulter and her joke. I even commented that I couldn't believe I was defending her, but what she said was clearly a joke. Interesting But aside from that the target of her humor was a Justice. The target of my silly line was people like Ann Coulter. Again the victim wasn't in any way made fun of.
That is incorrect. When Ann Coulter made a joke about killing a court justice, I defended her. I will almost always defend someone making a joke unless it is racist. At the same time I didn't make a joke at the expense of the victim. So be angry or think whatever you want, but I have nothing to be ashamed of.
