The textfile will still have a lot of useful info as the other links might not have all players, even though they can be more detailed for some areas. Your first task could be to check all this info, and then start to think of what to do about resigning contracts (players not signed longer than 02 should be prioritized for new contracts, although you can sign new contracts for all), training schedule and where to send your scout. If you have more than one coach (you probably do), take note that a coach will be more effective when not assigned to all areas as he is by default. Edit: Assistant Managers is also one of your coaching staff. You could also specify that you want to look for extra staff members (scouts, coaches, physio, assistant managers). If any questions just ask, either here or in the chat. You can only have one assistant manager, so if you want a new one, you need to sack the old one. I am the only one with only one scout(I think), so I'm offering a contract to a new one ASAP, and I'm also changing my training schedule in the period before the season start to mostly fitness (some skill for younger players).
The easiest way to do contracts is to catch me in the chat, but it is also possible to do them here. Just name a couple of players you want to resign, and I'll come back with their demands. Then you can give your offer. As an example I could give one player from my team: I want to sign Alistar Asher. If I want to check his current contract I can find this info in the Squad & Stats textfile at the page: 2 Asher, Alistair D RC ENG 14.10.80 20 - - £400 30.5.02 £65K His current salary is £400 p/w until the end of the season (30.5.02) He also has a Non Promotion & Relegation release clause of 45K but that info can not be found anywhere but asking for it. After this request I will give back the info on his demands. Alistair Asher wants £575 p/w until 2004 + a signing fee of 1K and a minimum release fee of 300K. My board allows me to give him £575 p/w, but doesnt give me any money for signing on bonuses. I usually try to get more out of a contract then what the player asks for. Either lower salary, changed number of years or altered their demands for clauses or even removing them. Players can also demand or be given goal and assists bonuses. I'll offer Alistair £575 p/w until 2004, can not give him his signing on fee, and try to up the release amount to £450 K.
Forgot to mention that I'm assigning my current scout to youth players - as I have no finances I have no need to go looking for expensive new players anyway. The finances is up at the page, and should show that only 2 teams have money to spend, Bristol Rovers and Hull. Hull with over 2 millions to spend. You might consider them lucky, but the boards for these clubs expects promotion, so haven and SF3 are under a lot of pressure to succeed - not finishing among the top clubs would surely be a high risk for the continued employment of those 2. You can also ask me to compare two players on your team up against eachother when they fight for the same position. The computer will then compare them and tell who is best suited at various position. But compare players competing for the same spot. If you compare a defender and an attacker, the comparison will probably only tell you what you already know, or not tell you anything at all.

So tomoorow I will finish up adding attributes for the 11 predesigned first teamers (not sorted in importance I think, but the computer list the players with a key contract status ahead of players with a first team status). After this is done you will get updates on the attributes by asking for them a couple of players each time, like the basketball sim - you can ask for updates on players already listed or other players, but best is to ask for other players first as the attributes probably will take some time before changing) Also list where you want me to send your scouts. The attribute link will have info about your staff too, check Carlisles attributes for explanation about staff attributes, and the league files for info in general. Also as soon as possible it is important to start thinking about renewing contracts, changing training, deciding which coach has responsibility for what part of the training. Training can be altered as often as you want - one idea could be to have your team doing fitness training now in the offseason when getting tired doesnt matter as much. This is what I'm going to do for all my first teamers + backups. I will probably also create my own setup for youth players getting a high dose of Skills but also some fitness. When the season gets closer I will put my defenders on tactical training as I will use the offside trap, and then ease up on the fitness training putting players on general and paybe the attackers on a dose of shooting.
Moved up the league one day, just to get it started. Have put in all actions mentioned in this thread or sent to me via e-mail. Assistant manager given the responisibility for fitness, tactics and shooting part of training. The other coach got fitness, skills and goalkeeping as his areas. Put all first teamers on fitness training schedule, and put all reserveson a custom training for skill and fitness (standard skill schedule with medium fitness instead of light fitness). If you want to bid on him still just say what you want me to bid. Same with Scott Maxfield, he was not at Bournemouth but Barrow (team below the conference) where he was valued at 10K. If you want me to bid for him let me know what to bid. Zac - Did as told, but as it looked like you wanted to really dump Milton I put his value at 20 K since his auto value was only 8 K. Actually at first I just transferl-listed him without changing his value - when I saw 4 teams interested at once I put him to 20K, and all is still listed as interested, although none of them came with any bid so far. I put Muggleton at 200 K as requested (auto 100K). Scouts sent out for all that listed them. Moved up a couple more days. (18/7) Sent scouts out for pued and boville too. Changed training for pued and zac. pued with midfielders for more fitness, zac with all players for more fitness (except goalkeepers) offered contract to a couple of players for dv and zac. haven got 3 bids accpeted, and contracts made for eifion williams, maxfield and solkhon. boville kicked of the preseason with a 2-2 draw away vs margate. I had 5 of my players sign the new contract, 6 rejected. mazzina signed for dv, no other players have answered yet. Richard Stacey signed as a scout for me.

Just as you left the chat, your offer for Leach was accepted. As he didnt say what squad status I accpeted I had to make a qualified guess on the player. 18 year old - I'll say hot prospect - I guess to make the flow easier in the future we can list squad status with the offers (only for when the player do not say the expectations). Now lets see what he says to being a hot prospect. No objections - well next hurdle was if I was going to give in to his contract demands. He wanted 1800 p/w, but no bonuses or anything else. Although you have a lot to spend I will try cutting it down some. 1600 p/w offered - still a great increase from his current 220 p/w deal at Wigan. Now it is the waiting game. If you think the offer is to steep, just let me know to NOT confirm the deal if it goes trough. If he do not accept, I guess you could try again later.
Castor - you've gotten your 2nd bid for Adam Thwaites. Walsall delievered a bid for 120k - I turned it down as I dont feel I can sell players without you telling me something along those lines. Thwaites auto-value is 80k, and he has a contract that is up after this year. If you want to keep him I strongly suggest offering him a new contract ASAP, if you want to let him go, please tell me to negotiate or accept offers. (btw the player also have a relegation release contract at 60k currently, but that is not as important as his contract is up anyway)
