"Vandeweghe says he intends to remain patient so as to make the right choice. He says he might even expand his list to include some new candidates. Clyde Drexler, Lionel Hollins and University of Kentucky head coach Tubby Smith are being mentioned. " http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/inside_game/marty_burns/news/2002/08/01/burns_nuggets/
This has been talked about for some time now. Drexler and KiKi are very close friends. If Clyde lands the job, look for Mario Elie to become an assistant.
Some critics said its' been in the works to get Clyde as an Coach over there since he joined the organization as the assisstant job to KK. So this doesn't surprise me at all that this is coming out now; and Clyde do deserve another chance to succeed as a coach. I personnally don't think hes' ready yet. But only time will tell.
Deserve another chance? It wasn't that he just failed - that's one thing. But he completely bailed out on his players. Maybe he's a better coach now, but how could you ever trust him again? He made a commitment to those players, and then chucked it aside. That's the part I couldn't get over. I was really disappointed, since I liked Drexler a great deal before that.
