Well he is certainly going on a limb. We will see but I think the Suns acquisitions of former Rockets will doom them to the same fate as former Rockets teams.

I would have to take a look at the new rosters to agree or disagree with that seeding...but i find it hard to believe they won't be a playoff team. At worst, they become the Rockets of the last few years. The team isn't a contender, but they're right there in mediocre status like we were....however, i think Scola is going to wake up some after being amnestied and gogi will be more happy in Phoenix, so that'll be one reason they'll push into a playoff seeding.

By default... Who cares? They can't actually contend.

Understandable. But I look at it from the perspective of 'which teams will they pass?' I guess you could make a case for Memphis / LAC / Denver / Utah. Certainly Houston but they'd have to pass someone else to crack the top 8. Minnesota is an outside threat.

    (Last season):
    San Antonio
    OKC
    Lakers
    Memphis
    Clippers
    Denver
    Dallas
    Utah
    Houston
    Phoenix <----
    Portland
    Minnesota
    Golden State
    Sacramento
    New Orleans

I'm guessing Utah drops off....i could see Memphis taking a plunge. That team just isn't going anywhere...they may just come apart out of frustration. Not sure if i'm sold on Minny being that much better. Some significant new additions this summer, including getting rubio back in the mix...could spend a longer time figuring things out and run out of games in the end. I don't think Phoenix will have a hard time coming together.

The Suns have a lot of competition from strong-on-paper teams. Only time will tell which teams are solid in reality.

More like a Unicorn because that team getting to the Finals is pure fantasy.

I'm pretty sure they're going to be higher ranked than the Rockets, to say they're going to be 4/5th seed.. that's a stretch.

San Antonio, OKC, Lakers, Clippers, even the Mavs will potentially be better than them.

First, I don't get the Scola thing, given that we know that he gives 100% all the time. Scola is Scola. We know what he is, and we know what he will be.

I know we want to be sympathetic towards Phoenix because of the former Rockets, but I see them as the 8th seed if EVERYTHING breaks right, and realistically more like 11th. I'm not sure about Gortat without Nash, Dragic is no Nash, and I cannot emphasize enough that Michael Beasley just isn't that good.

Clyde is right. They got an underrated coach in Gentry. Beasley could always ball, scola too. Gogi is an all-star.

Uhhhhh... Didn't Glide also claim Alston was an all-star caliber PG on multiple occasions???

And say Scola was a top 5 PF in the league????

Amongst other insane claims within the Rockets roster??

...I think Clyde only knows what's in Clyde's world. So as a Rockets color commentator and seeing the Rockets on a constant basis clouds his perception of the "real world".

And because of that, I feel he saw Dragic and Scola going to the Suns as immediately boosting PHX into contender status. Just another case of over hyping stemmed from the Rockets roster
