Im kinda new here, so this idea might have come up before or be retarted. Does anyone know of any Clutchfans T-Shirts? Or does anyone else want to make one? I think it would be so cool to have to have shirts representing our favorite basketball website.
it's been discussed plenty and I think it's rights/licensing thing. but feel free to come up with a design!
id sport a clutchfans shirt. im sure if you wanted to get one made, you can get someone here to design one for you, or you can use a rockets wallpaper that someone has posted here before.
Exactly what he said, the NBA/Houston Rockets probably wouldn't like it very much if the site started selling merchandise. I believe they once tried to get the site shut down as well.
Exactly like Lil Pun said, been there done that, so in short we can have shirts and no site or no shirt and the site.
Also, it would probably be more trouble than it's worth unless there were a 3rd party that could basically handle the entire process and just pass along the money to the appropriate sources.
So it would be considered illegal if a Clutchfans member came up with a design and made shirts?? or you just couldn't market it on CF's?
From my understanding, it's licensing stuff which the Rockets would shoot down fairly quickly esp if there were any sort of similarity to logos or anything of the sort.
when the site was called clutchcity.net there was an issue because the NBA/Rockets owned the rights to the name, clutch city. hence the change to clutchfans - i dont know if there is any way the Rockets or the nba could pursue it otherwise. They could if the shirts had any depiction of Rockets players or logo etc. It would have to be a shirt with just the clutchfans logo and maybe the 'loud proud and original since 96' slogon on it. I've seen a few posters wear/make custom CF shirts to a rockets game before personally i wouldnt know what to do with one if i did have one, you could wear it to a game but i prefer to wear jerseys at a game. maybe then a viewing party but living outside of houston i really dont attend many of those.
The first rule about Clutchfans is: Do not talk about Clutchfans. Seriously though, I think that may be another aspect to why shirts haven't been made... I don't know about ya'll, but this site feels like a secret society, a clubhouse of sorts. There's a hint of "your favorite indie band" or a movie like "Kicking and Screaming" (NOT the Will Farrell movie) where you feel cool or sophisticated or part of something becuase nobody else knows about it. That said, if we could sell shirts and give Clutch and the Clutch Crew all the proceeds... I think that would be fantastic.
I would not wear a shirt that advertised how much of an internet nerd I am. I prefer to keep that private. Not to mention I would hate the idea of some random person coming up to me and having an awkward conversation about our alternate online personas.
