In what is probably the farthest from Houston CF.net get together I met Univac Hal at in Singapore. Univac is probably the sole Clutchfan living in Singapore on a permanent basis and on top of that has to rely on R2K's videos to watch Rox games. Had a good Clutchfans discussion about Rox history, regular posters and firing JVG over some beers at the Wala Wala Bar which I recommend for anyone visiting. I tip my hat to Univac Hal for persevering in gospel of Clutchfans even though he is out there on his own and as Singaporeans would say: Rockettss.. Verly Good lah!
I spent the first semester of my junior year of high school at Singapore American School. My step-mom was a lawyer for Mobil Oil and they paid for me to move out there and paid my tuition to SAS which was ridiculously expensive. I had visted there 3 times before. We golfed at a club in Kuala Lampur and I got to take a vacaction to Beijing. I wanted to stay but Mobil transfered my step-mom back and I came back to Houston. So only got to actually live there for 4 or 5 months.
Singlish sounds extremely comfortable in speech, but just doesn't translate well into writing at all - so I shall spare you guys an unintelligible reply in my patois.. lah It was cool meeting up with you, Sishir, but I had no idea you were ANTI-JVG.. until yesterday. Tsk tsk. Anyway, as I said, let me know the next time you're in town.. and don't give up on that Surinamese chick, at least do it for the reading pleasure of your ClutchFans brethren!!
8th year in Singapore. I'll hear about Arsenal, Peter Cxck, or Man-U very very often in my office. The sports channels are 90% about football too. That's why I spend so much time on this site everyday.
That's too cool. I never think about meeting up with Rockets peeps when I'm out of town. That sounds like a cool thing to do in a place I don't know anyone else.
It sounds like there a couple more Clutchfans in Singapore. Y'all should figure out a way to watch the games and have your own viewing party. Can lah?
I'm less strident about it than most but like I said results speak for themselves and JVG can keep the Rox on winning ways I will give him a chance.
Over 75% of the population are Chinese heritage in Singapore, so I wouldn't be surprise that there are ton of Rocket fans there.
