I'm excited to announce a new podcast featuring @BimaThug, and this time we've added video! Catch it live on YouTube at 8:00 AM CT and on Spotify simultaneously (Apple usually trickles in shortly after).

We discuss the options before the Houston Rockets as they approach the NBA Draft this week, holding the #3 pick and the #44 pick. Donovan Clingan and Reed Sheppard as options? The pair also discuss trade-down options and whether Devin Carter could be intriguing to Ime Udoka. And are the Rockets a darkhorse for a Paul George trade?

Great to know I won't be getting my Monday morning off to a fly start for work. All good as long as I don't turn in a report about trading back vs drafting Reed.

    “I still prefer Clingan.” — Clutch @AroundTheWorld

Bima agrees with @coachbadlee (trade back for Carter but only if getting a premium asset in return)

None of it is surprising, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

    Looking forward to the draft.

I think there will be stars that come out of this draft.

The issue is that this is the kind of draft that can make teams picking in the top 5 look really foolish - because it is hard to know which of these guys will end up putting it all together.

I can see a situation where any of about a dozen players become an all-star - obviously most wont, but there are about a dozen that have that possible pathway open.

I could see Reed Sheppard being a point guard that becomes an all-star and everyone looks back and claims it was obvious.

Same with Dillingham - I can see him become an elite offensive juggernaut - or Clingan polishing his offensive game and becoming a top 4-5 center in the league and everyone kicking themselves for passing on him.

I personally would take Reed at #3, but I can understand concerns - and I also can understand why people want Clingan, Dillingham and others.

I think he will be as good as Mark Price. Like Mark Price himself, he won't be peak Mark Price in his first year or two, though.

So the anti-Reed folks will say "told you so" in the first year or two, and I would be able to say "told you so" in 3-4 years from now.

Of course, I am not that kind of person.

Whom am I kidding, OF COURSE I am :p.

There are some similarities with Mark Price, they both have exceptional instincts and an intuition that few players have.

I tend to err on the side of guys that have an elite understanding of the game.

Right now I am resigned to taking Reed Sheppard. Would prefer him 10x over Donovan Clingan. Risacher doesnt seem like he will be there at 3 and even if he is seems like he didnt even work out for the Rockets (?).

The other guy that is really appealing to me is Devin Carter, he is basically Derrick White Jr. Very similar attributes, also a good 2 way player and very projectable in the NBA.

I'm hoping Rockets can somehow take both. My fever dream is Risacher drops to 3 and Rockets trade him to Spurs for 4 and 8.

4am - WTF - Get some sleep my man !

2 of my favorite Rox fans - very knowledgeable and great insights.

Really wish you ended it with both of you guys saying WHOM you would pick if we have to take the pick at 3.

@Clutch and @BimaThug - now is your chance......

BTW- on YouTubes - this is ANTMAN approved !

Hoping for Cody Williams, Matas or Carter in a trade down for lightly protected first

    Wouldn't mind Knetcht either

Does anyone know much about Daron Holmes?

    Why isn't Ware rated higher?

Mark Price is a guy I have used to look at as an analog to Sheppard. I like the comp a lot. But it is an old one.

Take Reed Sheppard and get the shooter this offense is in dire need of. He will help defensively more than people think, even with his lack of size and length at the guard position.

If not him than just go for broke with Castle and hope of the best shooting wise next season.

That is what I think, I think Sheppard is a future all star PG......he may never get to Steve Nash level but that is what I think he will be an all star PG in the league for years.

I think he should be the pick at 3 if we keep it, but I don’t see all-star PG in his future. Houston might be the perfect match to get him to near all-star level when Amen is the offensive PG and Sheppard the defensive PG. Under that circumstance, he might thrive. He has to be able to beat people off the dribble to be an all-star guard of any type in this league. That really needs to be his concentration for the next several years.

I don't think Amen will ever be great, because he can't shoot...he will be a super role player...
