It’s sad that two previous teams that we went against Blitzed Reed to take away his room to operate and cut off passing but we had nobody else could utilize and score off miss match. Both wolves and pistons were guarding Reed like their life depends on it.

Doesn't really matter who won and this was a good experience for Reed. He hasn't really played a lot of PG before it seems like so he needs as many reps and different types of looks as possible. He'll be able to look at the video and make some adjustments moving forward.

Reed didn’t had good game but he still looks like an NBA player other than Orlando our scrubs looks like they don’t even belong to G-League.

Yeah I mean this has always been the main issue with conceptualizing Reed as more than something along the lines of a low-end all-star--he's very far from having the self-creation abilities of a typical superstar / borderline superstar backcourt player. That's not to say he can't develop those abilities, but he has a long, long way to go with his footwork and ballhandling to get there.

But you know what, that's fine--even if, again, he basically becomes a slightly better version of FVV, that's a great player, a max player in today's league, and probably a guy who makes several all-star games.

    We won’t see it again.

In an NBA game with the real team, if the other team was blitzing PnR all game, then Reed would just be dumping the ball to Sengun or Steven Adams to play in a 4 on 3.

Reed would get no shots or assists, but our offense would be great.

But this is summer league and the Rockets want Reed to get tough reps on ball, and we have no other talent on the court. The Pistons and Wolves know that and want to disrupt it, which is what you’re seeing.

Reed will not be getting double teamed in NBA PnR… if he is, he must be doing something amazingly right.

It's mostly his handles. I watch him, I feel like he's trying to play like Steve Nash. He tries to be pass first PG when he handles the ball. But his handles a not good enough when he gets blitzed and doubled.

He actually played better when he just attacked off 2-3 dribbles instead of scanning the floor looking to pass.

Nash couldn't really split double teams either, but his handles were so good and reaction time so fast he didn't need to beat his guy by that much to lace a pass through traffic.

If Reed wants to pass more, he needs to get better at keeping his dribble alive

Yeah, I've never thought of him as a 10 PG or a 10 SG, but I thought he'd be a hell of a combo guard. This, and probably the Pistons game, were 2 games where the Rockets' lack of talent on the court probably just made him look even worse, but he definitely still had some problems out there. He's a rook, I'm sure he'll work some of those things out. I just hope his shooting doesn't go in the toilet via the Rockets shooting curse. If that's the case, it could be the worst thing to happen to him. :D

Guys he playing with can’t even set a pick and no pressure from opponent team to switch either that’s why he was ended up with three players trapping him. Adam and Sengun are great PnR players and Jabari/Green will gather attention from the arc too so this won’t happen in the NBA until he becomes #1 option

Good game by Reed Sheppard. Guess we can throw that 50% 3 pointer thing out the window, right? Seeing as he has gone 0-7 in the past two games. Cue up the excuse machine!!!!

Yeah when the rookie who has the whole defense keyed in on him looks like the only real player it's def a problem lol

The way the Rox are supporting the GLeague, they would win the GLeague again yet wouldn't matter to the first team.

No I didn't. I had conceded and was cheering him on. But yall couldn't let it go. Yall been poking at me for the past few days. So now I'm back on y'alls behinds once again. So gone ahead and get mad. Start crying and coming up with all these excuses as to why Reed Sheppards three point shot is broke. How does he go from 50% to 0% in freakin SUMMER LEAGUE? Not the season. Summer league.

no doubt the shooting hasn't been where expected so far--but it's a tiny sample size so I'm kinda "whatever" about it. Just impressed he's been able to do so many other things on the court and still have decent-to-good games when his main calling card isn't there for him.

I actually was referring to the next SL game....are we finished ? I thought there was at least one more game. We could see it again regular season depending on the combo being played at guard. ..ie,Amen can't shoot outside for his life and RS having trouble with handles. Not nearly as likely but could happen. There is DEFINITELY no other talent around him right now.

Well, you responded. Don't worry. There will be many more in due time. A lot of crickets now but once they recover they'll start peeking out looking to get back at ol Coach. I've already seen them on here blaming everybody else but Reed which is what I told them they were going to do.
