We are obviously the ultimate fansite for all things basketball. I read my basketball news here before I get them anywhere else. Our D&D section is pretty awesome too; just yesterday I read an AP story in D&D before Yahoo posted it. Props. Now, I wonder if we are on the edge for the sillier things--like funny ebay auctions, internet rumors, video of snakes eating a man's let--you know, the stuff we REALLY get the internet for. I like to call this stuff "internet fluff." These things are all circulated around the internet via forums, email, livejournal, etc. I belong to a couple of forums and I usually find the best stuff here. But my questions is where do YOU guys find this stuff. Are there other forums that are more on the "EDGE" in terms of finding the fun internet fluff? My friend said Slashdot is on the edge. But that seems to be mostly techie stuff. I'm talking about pure fluff!
I'm on edge until the Astros finish off the Cards. Thanks for the link (well, I goggled it). Slashdot looks cool. http://slashdot.org/
Most of the obscure or breaking news articles posted here are from the Drudge Report... some of the posters here will deny that it is their source, but as soon as Drudge posts something worthy it is here within minutes. These are all of the websites I visit on a daily basis for news and "cool stuff" http://engadget.com http://arstechnica.com http://slashdot.org http://www.securityfocus.com http://www.techweb.com http://www.zdnet.com http://www.cnet.com As far as news goes, I visit Drudge constantly and I also check into CNN, MSNBC, Fox, ABC, BBC, Yahoo and Google news multiple times a day.
I visit fazed.org boingboing.net At the bottom of the engadget page there are links to other content specific sites like engadget. Of those I goto cinematical.com (movies) & joystiq.com (games). I also read alot of Mp3 Blogs, I started with Aurgasm (aurgasm.us) and just started following the friends links on each site and now I have a pretty good selection of sites that introduce me to a wide variety of music that I probably wouldn't have listened to otherwise.
Of course, I work in IT... which technically means I work about an hour a day. Although I do stay "late" quite often to actually get some work done that can't be done during business hours. I'm a net/news junkie and it definately makes the day go by faster. I'll read an article or two, do some work, read another, do some work... post here, act like i'm doing some work, yada yada yada it's 5:30! Truthfully though, since most of those websites are "tech" oriented it can be considered work, I find things every day or so on those websites that help with my job.
