For some reason this idea just came to me. Any golfers here? Anyone want to have a friendly golf scramble sometime? If there's enough interest, I can make some calls and set something up. Perhaps even have prizes at the end?

Reply if you're interested. I'm thinking early July perhaps?

It would definitely be a scramble if I was involved - everyone scrambling for cover when I started hacking at the ball!

I've never played before in my life, but I love going to the driving range!!

    Scrambled eggs sounds good...

I could play and practice my Sergio 'waggle'!!

I was just thinking of the same thing yesterday!

I'm in, let me know ahead of time and any weekday would work.

Although if only a weekend works for people thats fine, its just so damn crowded in this town on the weekends:mad:

    What course ya thinking about?

Early July would work great for me, but late July I'll be out of town. Weekends are great for me, and weekdays are not a good option for me. A CC.net golf scramble would be a blast if you can pull it off.

Pulling this to top. Let's get some more response!

The place I was thinking is Houston Oaks Links course. I played there in a scramble a month ago, and it was fantastic! Beautiful course, well-maintained.

I just got an email from the guy who organized it for us. He said it was $27 a person (with carts/18 holes) but they required 16. I imagine I could get them to work with me on a good group rate.

Lately I've been playing at Steven F. Austin State Park out near Sealy. It's a very nice course, and not particularly crowded (at least when I've been).

    Any other great places?

I've never been to Houston Oaks, but that sounds reasonable, I wouldn't go for anything past 27bucks a round, I'm just not that good!

We don't even have to have a scramble per se, we could just have a few groups of four and take it from there.
We could play "greenies" or closest to the pin on the par threes for a buck each and so on.

    I usually play these courses:

Brock- on the East loop. VERY CHEAP and damn near empty during the weekdays. About 12 bucks to walk weekday... a chump course for basic golf. Shot a 84 as my best there.

Glenn Brook - Off 45 near U of H. $23.50 for 18holes & Cart on the weekend. I imagine it would be a little cheaper on the weekday. A bit more challenging course. I've shot 87 as my best

Gus Wortham - Exit Wayside, in the Eastend. A cheap municipal course that plays long. I think it was 18bucks during the week w/cart...I think. 86 was my best round

HCC Pasadena - Way the f*ck near Beltway south. Cheapest golf I've ever played, 8bucks for unlimited holes (ITs a 9 hole CHUMP course), only walking, no carts. No Frills. 34 on 9 holes was my best...

As I said, we don't need a full blown scramble group, I'd be happy with 2 or 3 groups of 4. Lets give this thread a few days and take it from there. I'm for sure, though!

BTW, if its a weekend, Saturday is best for me.:)

Green Meadows out in Katy is an interesting course to play. It's like $23 to walk on the weekend. I play the West course (long and open) there mostly. The East course is short and treed.

Sounds great! I'll start calling around and see what I can get set up for a Saturday or Sunday in early July.

    More details as they come.
