I went to the game Saturday night and it was a great time - really glad I got to be there for Dream (ironically I hadn't been to a game in Houston since Hakeem's last game with the Rockets). I'll post some stuff later.

Note: It's tougher to find audio links online since the NBA has cracked down on radio stations playing the games on the web, but if there are good radio links for the game, please let me know and I will post them on the front page.

Isn't there a free audio link from www.nba.com? I had it for the first few games. The sound quality was not very good sometimes, but it worked...

only the second game in seven days? There must be some nasty 4-in-5 parts of the schedule coming up eventually.

It actually was beneficial to the Rocks. Gives them a chance to practice with all these players as they become healthy.

I totally accept that we need to bring him in slowly. Give him times to adjust and he needs some rest too. But please stop using the phrase "EARN his miunutes". One could not earn if you are on the bench 90% of the time. Even when he was in the game, he only got limited touches of the ball. He has shown he could play professional and international basketball. There are differences in the style of basketball played here, but its not comparing apple to orange. You still need to dribble and shoot the same damn ball. Many aspects of the game are the same anywhere. To me, Yao needs to "WAIT" for his minutes simpily because of the reasons I stated above and our offenses are still very much guard-oriented. This could be Rudy's design or our guards' selfish plays, or both. If everyone is health, we could probably make it to the playoff. But without a strong center, no way we could win a championship. All you SF lovers can dream all you want , without big time involvement of Yao now or in the near future, no champion ringS for sure. Our guards will get their 25-30+ games, maybe sell a lot of shoes, but NO RING.

Gotoloveit:- I agree with you 100%. At the present time Yao Ming is over exhausted and needs rest big time!

    GoTo,

Don't drag my post in here...I already answered this in the other thread.

He can earn his minutes by playing DEFENSE, REBOUNDING, BLOCKING SHOTS, all of which he has not done.

Ming has to play aggressive when he is on the floor, right now, his head is clearly spinning and he is not playing well.

Be patient, when he understands where he needs to be at all times he is on the floor, he will get comfortable and EARN his minutes.

Right now, he is getting killed by journeyman players, and is not doing the little things that get you playing time....ala...(and I choke when I say this) Kelvin Cato.

Lets not forget that big Mo's coming back tonight! I'm assuming that he'll be coming off the bench, but should get quite a few mins. in the rotation.

    I say Rox win 95-89.

Thanks for the reminder. Sure seems like several days b/t games. Guess we'll pay for it later on in the season. Hope the guys are taking advantage.

I just want the Rockets to win this game. But even if they don't, it's a good measure to see where the team is at right now(i know it's early.) I also think that it's very important that the Rockets absolutely crush SCOTTIE QUITTEN!!! .

The Rockets are going to have their hands full with Rasheed, and Dale Davis. I also don't know if Moochie will play well if he has to go against backups Antonio Daniels and...i forgot the other guy.( played on the clips last year.)

Glen Rice will absolutely have to have more touches in this game. As I recall from games past with the Blazers, they double Cat and Stevie everytime they touch the ball. This will leave Rice wide open to nail some much needed jumpers.

Cheeks did not play McInnis claiming he wanted to shorten the rotation. Ahh, the problems of a deep team.

I like the fact that Portland is playing in Texas tonight, which should put the odds more in out favour. If we are indeed versatile, and I believe we are, then there is nothing that Portland can throw at us that we cannot handle. I liked how EG played Wallace, last year, so I am comfortable putting our frontcourt up against theirs.

It is great to know that we will be getting Mo Taylor back and I think the Blazers will be without Derrick Anderson.

The Rockets have to win games like this against the Blazers and against the Suns on Friday if they expect to make the playoffs.

The Blazers are an interesting team. They have good talent and go up and win against good competition, then get blown out by the Denver's of the world. Stoudemire and Francis usually go at it, but like most everyone else here, I am amazed at how well Francis has elevated his game. Even when he has low assists numbers, he is generally playing smart basketball within his game, explaining his high ppg average. He may or may not score his average, but I expect another solid game from him. Overall, it should be a close game, and a better barometer to judge the team by. I'll say the Rockets squeak out a win, but there is still plenty to complain about afterwards, for those of us (myself included occasionally) who like to do that sort of thing.

Blazers are going to win this game but I'm not just sure if it will be by double digits. I think it'll be a fairly contested game until the Blazers make a run in the third quarter, in which they blow open the game.

This is the second game this year where we are in one of those "this is a game we need to win if we are going to contend" situations. (Seattle was the 1st IMO). This would be a nice victory.

I agree. This game will be a nice test for the Rockets. It would be a great win if we can get it. Having just about everybody back will also be nice. I am looking forward to seeing how they use Taylor and the rotations that Rudy will be using.
